Unfortunately someone has cut a small hole in the back of the piece, but this could easily be repaired. I am unsure of the exact age or manufacture of the piece. It features a gorgeous crown molding around the top that is finished with an ornately carved pediment at the center for a majestic finished look. The piece also features a carving at the center front bottom, capped with a shell motif at the base of the carving at the top. The armoire has the original metal hanging rod still inside which is most likely made of brass.

Magnificent Antique Armoire in Solid Brazilian Rosewood. Rare! Exquisite!
Beautiful and one of a kind; massive yet not too large or bulky. Antique SOLID brazilian rosewood( dalbegia nigra) armoire. A type of furniture only ever found in Brazil, were this superb wood abounded in the past. Besides, it was made by none other than LEANDRO MARTINS, Rio de Janeiro, one of the foremost brazilian cabinet makers of late 19th, early 20th century. A rare, unique and exquisite piece, not to be missed, specially considering how dear and scarce this wood has become. The large side panels, made from single large, wide and thick boards, could well be used for the purpose of fine lutherie/ guitar building. The same applies to the four large and thick front drawers, and the front door panels. In fact, even the structure of this piece was made with plenty of rosewood, wide and thick frames, all very heavy and well selected. Economy ... morewas definetly not a priority for these top cabinet makers of the past. I will be adding dimensions of this piece later, but please fell free to ask any question. ANTIQUE FRENCH MARRIAGE ARMOIRE
This auction is for a most unusual antique armoire from Normandy. Most probably from the Caux region. The carving on this piece indicates that it was made in the provinces by a local woodworker. Everything about this stunning piece shows that it was entirely hand done and not for the mass market. It was most probably made between 1750 and 1850. All the joinery is double doved or butterfly. It is made of solid wood except for the interior of the dome top and the back. It was made. As was typical of the day, as a knockdown. The doors, base, back and dome top are all separate pieces. The separate dove carving indicates that this was a marriage armoire given as a dowry piece. Most were expertly done but this has all the earmarks of one made perhaps by the father of the bride. A recent addition to the piece is the ... moreadditional cut in the doors doors which allow them to completely foldaway so that the piece can be used as an entertainment unit without the encumbrance of traditional doors which can only partially be.opened. Impressive Louis XV mahogany armoire or wardrobe. This large piece has tons of storage space behind its three doors. Mirrors with bevelled edges and ornately carved wooden panels give this piece an amazing decorative look. A gracefully curved top is capped by an intricately carved finial. Skirted fronts and short cabriole legs lift it off the ground and keep the armoire from feeling heavy despite its size. This piece can be dismantled for moving. Overall. The armoire is in good condition. The two side mirrors have some noticable silver loss. Example pictured. There are also some small dents and dings to the wood. This is a very nice 3 door wardrobe circa 1900. Made in France or Possibly Italy as a lot of there furniture were very similar. The condition is very good. Its pollard oak and walnut with satinwood marquetry inlay to each door to the side, as well as rosewood inlay. At some time to the back has had wood worm. It looks treated, but we have also treated it as well. lt comes in several part so its easy to transport. To the base it has brass feet and also to the top brass cups. The center has a drawer to the base. The the rest is all hanging space as well as the sides. The mirror is the original one which shows some specks with age. Measurements are 76 wide.83 high, 24 deep. We have the 3 keys for each door.

Painted 1850 Antique Country Pine Hand Crafted Armoire. Said to be from Ohio. This wonderful country pine armoire was hand made about 1850, and still has its original red-brown paint. Raised front door panels are hand chamfered. There are touchups to the finish on this rugged American made antique. Sides are single wide planks. Hand planing marks are everywhere and square nails are visible. Inside are removable wooden pegs to hang clothes. The upper crown is rebuilt. And there are small mars at the edges, see photos. The pediment has neoclassical guilloche, reed and tie, and foliate motifs. The frieze and side panels feature patera, rosettes, and egg and dart motifs. The center door has putti and swags, lion mask, and lower panel with classical mask, arrow and drapery, and foliate ... moremotifs. The sides feature floral and geometric parquetry inlay and marquetry inlay depicting flaming torches, surrounded by bronze mounts with foliate and tied ribbon motifs. This is a walnut victorian armoire signed by Joseph B. Hubbard New Orleans. The armoire is circa 1880. The armoire is in as found condition. The finish is good and I would not refinish it. It has been stored for 20+ years. All I did was oil it. The armoire breaks down for easy moving. This armoire has no screws holding it together. It is held together with slotted panels and crown wedges. The only screws are the two that hold the top pediment on. It is all original except for the door locks and the one small interior shelf. The lock has been replaced with a key and the small shelf is not original. The armoire is an impressive size. It measures 97 3/4" tall with the pediment attached. 90 1/2" tall without the pediment, 65 1/4" wide and 23" deep at the crown, and 57" wide and 23" deep at the base. The base has ... more2 drawers. The Hale home was on the Marietta Historical Registry as a way-station for the"Underground Railway, shelter for escaped slaves en-route to Canada, prior to and during the Civil War) Shortly after World War II, about 1947 the city condemned the home to make room for a major highway. Armoires were often built into homes as a small clothes closet. When the home was being torn down, the Hale family removed the 84x42x17 closet and took it to Newport, Ohio, 35 miles north for Grandma Hale's use in her small bed-room in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Catey, and family.
