This is a walnut victorian armoire signed by Joseph B. Hubbard New Orleans. The armoire is circa 1880. The armoire is in as found condition. The finish is good and I would not refinish it. It has been stored for 20+ years. All I did was oil it. The armoire breaks down for easy moving. This armoire has no screws holding it together. It is held together with slotted panels and crown wedges. The only screws are the two that hold the top pediment on. It is all original except for the door locks and the one small interior shelf. The lock has been replaced with a key and the small shelf is not original. The armoire is an impressive size. It measures 97 3/4" tall with the pediment attached. 90 1/2" tall without the pediment, 65 1/4" wide and 23" deep at the crown, and 57" wide and 23" deep at the base. The base has ... more2 drawers. From the"Hale Estate. Marietta, Ohio. The armoire was built into the home on the banks of the Ohio& Muskingum Rivers, in the 1830s. The Hale home was on the Marietta Historical Registry as a way-station for the"Underground Railway, shelter for escaped slaves en-route to Canada, prior to and during the Civil War) Shortly after World War II, about 1947 the city condemned the home to make room for a major highway. Armoires were often built into homes as a small clothes closet. When the home was being torn down, the Hale family removed the 84x42x17 closet and took it to Newport, Ohio, 35 miles north for Grandma Hale's use in her small bed-room in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Catey, and family. In 1980. Phyllis Huston, a foster child of the Catey's, was visiting the old home and made an inquiry about the"closet, as ... moreit no longer was in the home. The current renters told her they had put it in the back storage building and would be disposing of it. Offered here is a gorgeous Large Antique Louis XV Style Walnut Armoire(French) circa 1880-1910. This piece is in very nice condition. It features beautifully carved provencal style flowers with basket at center. With a serpentine shaped apron raised on cabriole legs and original hardware. It features 1 shelf, but more could be added and the original key. The only flaws to mention is a split in the floor of the piece that does not affect the armoire structurally(see picture) and repair to repair to back legs. This piece is a great decorator piece! Antique Walnut Armoire - Louis XV Era - Circa 1800-1899
This is a beautiful Walnut Armoire. Louis XV era, circa 1800-1899. It has a single beveled mirror door and has intricate carving on the top and on the bottom drawer. The inside has 5 shelfs measuring 3' x 13" and an inside lockable drawer measuring 27 1/2" x 19 1/2" 4" deep. The inside of the armoire is lined with birdseye maple. The armoire measures 95" to the top of the filigree. And is 40" wide. The beveled mirror measures 25 7/8" wide and is 57 5/8" high. The door is also lockable. Below the door/mirror is another drawer measuring 31 3/4" x 14" x 3 5/8" deep. It is in excellent original condition. It comes apart in 4 sections for easy shipping. A beautiful addition to anyones antique collection.

Interior has custom-fitted cedar shelving that DOES NOT damage or alter the original construction, they simply lift out. Four beveled mirrors on the front, also original. Cumberland Valley Armoire circa 1850 by Chas P. Baile
Beautiful armoire circa- 1850 made by Chas P Baile of New Windsor MD. Search for him online. There is a pretty legible stamp with his name and New Windsor in both of the bottom drawers. A friend was getting ready to saw it up and make an entertainment center out of it which would have been criminal. He'd removed the shelving which is gone and has been replaced but the carcass and bonnet are untouched. The back had been removed and the original screws tossed but I reattached it using modern brass screws. One metal door lock is missing but there were no exterior metal escutcheons. Only carved wood keyholes, so it has original appearance. I also think that it's been refinshed. This piece would have been a treasute left alone. That's what wrong with it. now what's right. It's visible presence- doors, drawers, front, sides ... moreand bonnet appear to be all original and it's a beautiful piece of furniture. The carving on the doors and bonnet is simple and elegant. I'm in Austin, TX and I have no idea how the armoire found it's way here. It's big. 7'4 1/2" from floor to top of bonnett, 4'3" wide and 1'3" deep. I hope to find someone who will value and care for it as I've got to move and part with it. I've done some research on shipping costs(which are not included in this price) and it looks like $450 is a reasonable number to price this with and I'd be happy to work with any shipper of the buyers choice.

With foliated scrolls end post carvings, above a long frieze drawer, raised on rounded feet, the interior later fitted with boards and drawers. Functional latch with 1 key. 87 1/2" high, 65" wide, 21" deep. Condition: excellent overall condition: good patina; no signs of recent damage or repair. Item located in west Miami. solid oak armoire circa 1885-1910
This beautiful full oak armoire measuring eight feet two inches tall by 15 inches deep by fifty inches wide has it's original finish and beveled mirrors. It comes completely apart for easy moving. It came out of a home on St. Charles Avenue here in New Orleans. I put filler on the inside of the left door that had termite damage as a result of being stored in a cellar for years before I purchased it. The repair is just topical about four inches by four inches on the top and about six inches by six inches on the bottom shown on pictures six and seven. It has it's original hardware. The inside is divided and has a shelf across the top. I have had the armoire for about twenty years but due to my age(77) must part with it.
