A large rectangular mirror on the single cabinet door, and exquisite paneled accent carvings on either side of the mirror. The bevelled edge mirror is very clean almost suggesting that is has been replaced but I found no evidence to support that it is not the original. The cabinet door has an ornate solid drop pull and the drawer has two large decorative bail pulls. The skirt is arched on the side of the piece and there are scalloped brackets on the front. The interior is paneled and has two mounted hooks and 6 sliding hooks on the hanging bar. A very nice piece in remarkable condition for the age(circa 1890) this armoire is certain to become a cherished heirloom. Condition: It has some age appropriate signs of wear including scratches. There is no back in there because if its going to be used as an entertainment center there has to be ventilation. Measurements are 50 wide. You can fit a 46 inch wide tv in there,88 tall,21 deep. English 1890's Antique Georgian Design Armoire. Linen Press or Chifferobe. A classic armoire. Linen press or chifferobe in the Georgian manner was hand crafted in England around 1890. Beautiful mahogany wood has a fine old finish, waxed and polished so that all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are shrinkage separations from age and minor mars at the edges for character. Drawers and the back were restored with hand cut dovetail joints by a skilled carpenter many years ago after this understated antique was brought to America. Expert construction includes delicate inlaid banding and pegged joints on raised panel doors. Original brasses have embossed grape clusters. The door lock does not work. The key is a handle only.
