For more than 250 years this item was used for different purposes and during this period was fixed and altered several times in order to please it’s owners. Originally the schrank was painted a green color with Northern Star ... moredecorations on the panels but we received it already stripped and only a few specks of green paint left in the cracks would remind you of it. One panel has a contour of the Northern Star. Developed as the result of a chemical reaction of paint on freshly cut wood. Even though the original painting was lost through the centuries along with the name of the artist who decorated this item the shadow of this Star remains. A little miracle… The pine turned darker with time and was sealed and polished with bee wax for soft luster. Revealing some time marks including some amount of bug holes appropriate for the age of this item. However. We guarantee that now it is problem free because we fumigate all our furniture twice- before we put it into the container and upon delivery to US. The other panels just reveal clear pine wood of rich honey color with darker veins. Most of the people are looking for this type of item to use it as an entertainment center and once it probably served this purpose because a round hole is drilled in the back panel for electrical wires. Painted 1850 Antique Country Pine Hand Crafted Armoire. Said to be from Ohio. This wonderful country pine armoire was hand made about 1850, and still has its original red-brown paint. Raised front door panels are hand chamfered. There are touchups to the finish on this rugged American made antique. Sides are single wide planks. Hand planing marks are everywhere and square nails are visible. Inside are removable wooden pegs to hang clothes. The upper crown is rebuilt. And there are small mars at the edges, see photos. Presenting a beautifully-proportioned and generous armoire in very sturdy condition. For your consideration. My 30 year ownership of this rugged, useful and attractive armoire must regrettably come to an end as I am downsizing and it simply does not transition into the tight living space I now occupy. Our loss will be your gain. She stands 75 1/4" tall, 59 1/2" wide(add a total of 3" for the pediment projection) and 16" deep. The finish is a medium brown, very shaded, matte, some distress. Goes well in either a modern or traditional setting. It comes with a working key. The left door latches with small barrel bolts. Top and bottom inside. The bail on the right hand door is intact; the one on the left is a stub. The intact one can be copied by wax casting, or fabrication, if desired. You just might overlook this flaw or ... moreforget about it, as we did. Fitted with removable shelves but the interior is adaptable for hooks or a hanger bar. We have used it for bedding. Books, office supplies and it seems somehow bigger on the inside than the outside. Norwegian Immigrant Hand Carved 1880 Antique Pine Armoire. Item# B-19692. Hand crafted in Wisconsin by a Norwegian immigrant about 1880. This wonderfully made country pine armoire is picturesque. Entirely hand carved with rustic folk motifs. Every surface is charmingly irregular. The finish is in excellent condition, preserving traces of old paint, see photos. Door panels are raised and hand chamfered. The interior is 16" deep and has carved wooden clothes hooks at the top. It could be fitted with a closet pole or shelves as desired.
