There are 4 pull out shelf drawers and two cabin drawers below with pull handles. Brass fittings adorn every part. Hooks. Drawer pulls, rails and handles. The ornate front handles twist to pull back the catch and open doors. The hanging rails pull forward on their mechanism to allow full view of hanging garments and stowed back into the cupboard. Ingenious and well made. Pretty inlaid details and quarter laid mahogany grain. This has been finely done. The colouring is very rich without being too dark and it is not an overbearing piece. There is also cornice to the top and scalloping between the'feet' ... moreThe wardrobe dis- assembles into 5 parts meaning it can be brought up narrow staircases/ through awkward doorways. It was originally designed to adorn a wonderful old manor or stately farmhouse and may have had to come through several rooms to be placed. It also means that the wardrobe is easy to transport and manageable to carry. The wardrobe is in good antique condition. There are minor knocks/scratches to the woodwork. As you would expect for an original item of this age. I have noticed the following. There is a fine crack in the wood panel behind the mirror. It is secure for use. But needs mention. There is a small piece of trim missing on the very bottom of the 1" width between mid-section and right section. Also a small corner on the top of same section. The brass on the rail is loose at left side. There are two small spots of white paint on the far left side panel. All of the above mentioned are minor. Overall an amazing piece. This beautiful pair of large antique Chinese cabinets was part of an inheritance. So our knowledge of them is very limited. Similar items seen on eBay suggest that they are Ming cabinets from the early-to-mid-1800's and sell for $900-$1,300 a piece, with matching pairs being much more rare and expensive. Both cabinets have experienced some damage from exposure to the extra-dry climate of Palm Springs. One has been professionally restored and is in very good condition. The other. Unrestored cabinet is in less-good condition, with the primary flaws being several long vertical spaces developing in the sides where the panels shrunk and separated. There is also some areas of slight discoloration on the front. Fortunately, most of the flaws are masked by the rich patina that items of this age can develop over long periods of time. For sale is a beautiful quarter sawn white oak armoire. Excellent condition with beautiful carving and detail. Has glass panels in upper front and middle of door. One panel has a slight crack in upper corner. Has two adjustable shelves as well as the original hanging bar. Measures 72 inches tall. 46 inches wide and 18 inches deep. I have owned this armoire for 35 years and it is in beautiful condition. Glass could easily be replaced with beveled mirror for a beautiful change of look.
