The doors have a metal latch that holds them closed. When open you see 5 shelves and 6 hooks. The doors are panel style and have spool style carved trim flanking them at the upper corners. This piece has a bit of a primitive look yet is in nice condition. The wood still has a nice smooth finish but there are nicks ... moreand splits in the wood on the edges and across the top. The sides are panel style as well. This piece is solid and sturdy and very functional. I do not know the maker or exact date it was made. This armoire is antique and will not be perfect. VINTAGE 1930s ARMOIRE 2 DOOR WITH DRAWERS AND CLOTHES HANGER
This is an old vintage armoire that belonged to my grandparents. I can remember it in the attic in the 1950's where they left it when they moved to their retirement home at the shore. So they thought it was too old to take with them back then. It's a walnut color, but I'm pretty sure the wood is oak. Cosmetically, it's in good shape, though there's definite crazing on the doors, a sign of age. The rest of the piece shines up nicely and Old English makes the doors look awfully good despite the crazing. The armoire has two doors. Behind one is a set of drawers. Behind the other is a clothes hanger, so it will hold a bit of everything. It has metal wheels, so it will roll, but I'd recommend putting pads under the wheels if you have wood floors. There are two imperfections on middle and bottom left door that look like they were knots in the wood. Left door very slightly warped- door does close, right side has seven wood pegs added plus two wood pegs broken off, brass lock cover is loose- I do have the original brass lock cover, nice original finish. The wardrobe is all oak wood. Has two doors, two dovetailed drawers, all brass hardware present, comes with key and working lock, and very sturdy. This armoire features a beautifully carved crest and rippled molding around the doors. A fitted interior with two small drawers offer nice storage. Items can be hung on either side of the drawers. The wardrobe has been refinished at some point showing off the gorgeous crotch Mahogany. The armoire is solid sturdy and ready to use.
