Impressive Louis XV mahogany armoire or wardrobe. This large piece has tons of storage space behind its three doors. Mirrors with bevelled edges and ornately carved wooden panels give this piece an amazing decorative look. A gracefully curved top is capped by an intricately carved finial. Skirted fronts and short cabriole legs lift it off the ground and keep the armoire from feeling heavy despite its size. This piece can be dismantled for moving. Overall. The armoire is in good condition. The two side mirrors have some noticable silver loss. Example pictured. There are also some small dents and dings to the wood. Antique. Walnut, wardrobe. Beautiful piece. It is all walnut wood so it's quite heavy. Dated mid to late 1800's. it was in my grandparents living room for as long as I can remember. I am moving to a smaller home and I unfortunately don't have room at this time for the piece. I am pleased to offer for sale this primitive Walnut antique wardrobe-circa late 19th to very early 20th century. This walnut wardrobe is tall. Primitive and very heavy; it does not knockdown. It features detailed woodwork on the doors and has two bottom drawers that pull out. Approximate measurements: 78" tall from the floor to the top of the crown molding(removable) 48" wide and 17" deep Interior measurements: 59 5/8" tall; 15.5" wide; 46" deep Drawers: 18 1/4" wide; 14 3/8" deep dovetailed ends The sides are solid walnut with the top. Back and bottom made of solid pine. The doors are walnut and are around 7/8" thick. There are several old hooks as well as a clothes pole inside the wardrobe. It has an extra heavy crown molded top, beveled glass mirrored doors that measure 20 inches wide on each end, and the inside dimensions behind the doors are 20 inches wide, 16 inches deep, and 72 inches high. There’s plenty of hanging hooks on this unit for lots of storage. In the center are two raised panel burl walnut doors that open to reveal a storage space for a TV that measures 27 inches wide, 18 inches deep, and 32 inches high. There are five raised panel dovetail drawers below the TV space. This Ar-moire is in beautiful condition and has been passed down to me with the following info. The items actual date of manufacture is unknown. But has been stated as being 1890-1899. Material used for construction has been stated to be Burl Walnut. Item was originally purchased at an estate sale in Beverly Hills, CA. Weight of item has been stated to be in excess of 300 lbs. but never actually taken. Item is stated as being 100% original in hardware and materials used. Now for what we know for sure. This Ar moire is very large! Measures 76" tall(from bottom of legs to tallest point. Center) with 72 1/2" across(from left to right edge, center) and a depth of 19 1/2" Diagonally(from bottom left corner, across face, to top right corner) it measures 102" The wardrobe is sectioned into three pieces. This antique walnut wardrobe is beautiful and versatile. The front and sides of the wardrobe and doors are solid 7/8” walnut(not veneer) It has square nails and a smooth 8“ crease on its right side(saw mark? visible in direct light. There are 2 matched grain. Arched pattern doors that open from the center. The right door is secured to the bottom of the wardrobe by an inside wood clasp. The left door has what appears to be an original lock, but no key. When closed there is a 1/8"3/8" vertical gap between the front of one door and the back of the other door. There is one bottom dovetailed drawer with original, chipped round knobs. The interior, is painted pale blue, has cord openings, and 3 glass shelves to hold a tv, china, and other treasures. This is a beautiful Louis XIV Walnut French armoire. It stands tall and proud and is an impressive piece with rich texture to the wood finish. The motif looks like an eye at the top and an eye on the bottom- quite unusual! The armoire is 24" deep. 54" 4'5" wide, 91" 7'7" tall. We are unsure of the weight but estimate at around 175lbs. It's been very well cared for in a smoke free home. There are minor marks here and there and it looks like the back right leg was repaired a long time ago. Missing the key. This is a higher quality wardrobe closet, that looks much better than can be seen in these photos. The doors have recessed panels of burl walnut. The two drawers at the bottom. Have the original solid brass pulls, and are extremely ornate. The photo showing the drawer joint, is a type of construction called, scallop& dowel" that was used during the 1870's.
