Set of 2 Jenny Lind Walnut Twin Beds
We are very pleased and excited to be offering a pair of Jenny Lind twin size full walnut spindle beds for sale. We acquired these beds at a recent estate sale and have made only small repairs to them. The break in picture 6 has been repaired. They were stored in a barn for quite some time. These beds are solid walnut. They have had extensions added some time ago and the work is pretty well done. This Jenny Lind spindle bed has some mars from its age and wear as well as a couple of splits, breaks and cracks. The headboard where the piece is missing, I do recall mention that they would give that to us, I will check to make sure we received it. There is also a break on the headboard between one of the spindles and at the footboard one of the spindles is broken. Also, one of the extensions has cracked, however it does remain solid. This is a wonderful matched pair of mahogany tall poster beds that date from the 1940s. It’s a great-looking pair. In overall nice condition. ... moreThey have been re-sprayed with a satin sheen lacquer to remove nicks and dings, and are finished in a dark reddish-brown finish. The footboards are extra special, with multi-turned cross-spindle cross-stretchers, but there is also a shield on the bottom with a rope braided molded edge. The posts themselves are all heavily turned, with vase type finials on the top that match the headboards, and also have carved grooves in the blocks on the turned legs. Look at the pictures, and you’ll see the headboards have a gorgeous broken crown molded shield top, which is unusual for a twin-size bed and looks just like a Governor Winthrop desk or a chest on chest, but you rarely find it on a bed. The posts have the fancy multi-turned vase-type finials, like the footboards. The overall outside size of each bed is 43 inches wide. The footboard is 49 inches to the finial, 28 inches high from the floor to the cross-spindle stretcher, and 21 inches high to the shield on the base. The headboard is 53 inches high to the finial. Hi for sale I have two matching vintage/antique John Widdicomb twin beds. They have a beautiful French country design. They are in reall great vintage shape. The headboards have a painted foloral design. With a thick gold rope going around. I think the big tassles at the end. The beds are clean and smoke free. The rope might be coming apart a little at the seam. See photo#7(really no big deal) each measures: 42" wide x 78" long. And the headboard is 43 3/4" tall at the tallest measure. I live in a house full of vintage beds. And you can make them work with modern mattresses. If you push these two beds together, you could make it a king.
