Bar for hanging clothes. I have done my best to describe this piece to the best of my ability. Small chips. Marks and stains. Cracks in lower drawers. This is a beautiful and stunning piece. A 1790-1800 French Wedding Armoire. Or Bridal Trousseau Armoire. This is a large piece, exceptional handcrafted carving. The sides and back are pine, the front, top, legs and doors are oak. Beautiful example of early French artistry in wood. Stunning patina in a reddish darkish brown which can only be attained with age. A father would have several pieces made for his daughter so that she could save not only her bridal clothes. But her gorgeous linens as well in these cabinets. These were all handmade in France. A daughter was to accumulate many sets of linens for her future wedding. Those with wealth accumulated dozens of sheets, tablecloths, linens for the furniture so one needed quite a bit of storage. The photos were primarily taken in full sunlight. Genuine French country antique. Wonderful rich patina with a clear wax finish. I purchased this cabinet in France many years ago and I have been using it for storage in an unfitted kitchen. I was told it was an old food cabinet. Reluctantly for sale due to kitchen remodel and shortage of space! The doors. Sides and front are all solid oak. There are splits on the left side of the cabinet. As seen in the pictures, due to contraction and expansion over the years with humidity changes. There are other hairline cracks as one would expect in a piece this size and age but it just adds to the rustic charm. Please look at the pictures carefully. The interior is lighter in color and has 3 adjustable newer pine shelves that sit in the wood grooves with metal braces. The bottom of the cabinet looks newer than the main body. FANTASTIC ANTIQUE FRENCH OAK LOUIS PHILIPPE ARMOIRE WARDROBE Search Prev Stop Play Next French Oak Armoire Dating to the middle of the 19th century. This imposing Louis Philippe Armoire is crafted in solid oak. The Armoire comes completely flat and can be assembled in about 20 minutes. The armoire stands on ogee scroll feet and a cut out plinth. To the inside there are 3 shelves. One with a full width drawer and one having 3 drawers below it. The middle drawer has a lock but no key so I can put a button knob on this one if required. All this is enclosed with a pair of panel doors complete with decorative carving and molding. The left hand door is held shut with a simple sprung catch. While the right hand door closes on to it and is held shut with original working lock and key. The heavy ogee cornice gives this armoire the finishing touch. ... moreThe Armoire is in good condition and in it's original polish but has been given a couple of coats of wax to enhance the fine figuration of the oak. This is a lovely piece of French furniture and would compliment the room of any home traditional or modern. Here is an absolutely gorgeous quartersawn oak carved wardrobe with finials. Much like the style of Eastlake, purchased through the estate auction of an old Charleston family member, so I'm not sure if it is American made or perhaps English. It is certainly late 19th century to early 20th century solid oak(primary and secondary) with lovely carvings and dentition across the top, a large clear beveled dressing mirror, dovetailed drawers, original old hardware and an incredible amount of storage space within a solid wood cabinet that's made to travel in separate smaller components(base, closet, bonnet) so it could be easily maneuvered through the traditionally smaller hallways and stairwells of those now antique homes. This wonderful large functional wardrobe stands 87 inches tall by 53 inches wide by 21 inches front to back. Offering ... morean amazing amount of storage in a gorgeous quartersawn oak cabinet. This terrific Victorian wardrobe has 3 large sliding shelves and 3 nice deep drawers on one side with open closet space on the opposing side, still equipped with cloak hooks affixed to the walls as well as a hanging rod across it's width, added later. If the new owner desired, the open cabinet space for hanging clothes can of course be easily converted into any type storage you may need with the variety of storage system unit options available in most retail stores. Below both sides of the closet is a large deep drawer that runs the width of the base. This fabulous antique wardrobe is in very nice respectfully used condition inside and out as shown in my photographs. Behind the right side facing door there are Three large shelves that slide out to ease use. Each 21 1/2 inches wide by 16 1/2 inches front to back, with 10 3/4 inches clearance above each. Needs a little refurbishment to be in perfect shape. Everything is missing from the inside except the lock. Which is missing the key. There are places where pieces of the veneer has come off. Armoire was originally built using tongue and groove and the back was held on with wood dowels. The dowels are missing and the back has been nailed on. The hinges have been replaced. An antique Arts& Crafts style solid oak Hall Wardrobe of American origin. We are pleased to present this antique Hall Wardrobe for your consideration. It is made of solid Oak wood. And is of American origin with an Arts& Crafts or Mission style look. Unusual for an American piece, it has a mechanism for disassembly to simplify the task of moving it from one place to another. A single door is found on the front, and hooks(not original to the piece) are found on the back, near the top, for hanging garments. Limited depth on the inside is not sufficient for a hanger to fit front-to-back. So this piece is better suited for use as a Hall Wardrobe, rather than a full armoire. Other possibilities, with the addition of shelves, would be use as a Bookcase, Spice Cabinet, or Kitchen Pantry. The outside measurements are 69 inches high. 33-1/2 ... moreinches wide, and 15-1/2 inches deep. There are four(4) pieces of sliding wood locks on the inside. solid oak armoire circa 1885-1910
This beautiful full oak armoire measuring eight feet two inches tall by 15 inches deep by fifty inches wide has it's original finish and beveled mirrors. It comes completely apart for easy moving. It came out of a home on St. Charles Avenue here in New Orleans. I put filler on the inside of the left door that had termite damage as a result of being stored in a cellar for years before I purchased it. The repair is just topical about four inches by four inches on the top and about six inches by six inches on the bottom shown on pictures six and seven. It has it's original hardware. The inside is divided and has a shelf across the top. I have had the armoire for about twenty years but due to my age(77) must part with it.
