Hardware: There are no lock mortises cut into the edge of the door. As a result. You have the opportunity to cut and create any size mortise for any lock set you wish! Otherwise, these doors are not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of period hardware to outfit the doors(check out our eBay store) If you would like any of the hardware holes patched with a solid block of wood. Genuine French country antique. Wonderful rich patina with a clear wax finish. I purchased this cabinet in France many years ago and I have been using it for storage in an unfitted kitchen. I was told it was an old food cabinet. Reluctantly for sale due to kitchen remodel and shortage of space! The doors. Sides and front are all solid oak. There are splits on the left side of the cabinet. As seen in the pictures, due to contraction and expansion over the years with humidity changes. There are other hairline cracks as one would expect in a piece this size and age but it just adds to the rustic charm. Please look at the pictures carefully. The interior is lighter in color and has 3 adjustable newer pine shelves that sit in the wood grooves with metal braces. The bottom of the cabinet looks newer than the main body. The top of the cabinet. As ... moreviewed from above, has a couple of old worm holes and a 2 inch hole that can been seen only from the inside when you look up. The back of the cabinet frame is oak with old pine panels. Each door has a decorative metal vent. I do not know what type of metal it is but it has a dark patina. It measures 84" high. 50" top corner of cornice across. Almost 48" wide across flat front. 46" wide interior. 21" deep to top cornice. 20" deep outside flat. 18" deep inside. Here is a fabulous early 19th century French wardrobe with original hinges and lovely carving across the top above the doors including raised carved applique date of 1835. Imported to Charleston from France by it's current owner after he purchased it at a high end antiques store in Normandy. The finish particularly on the front doors is nice with lovely wood grains and the original long metal hinges holding the doors in place. It stands 78 inches tall and measures 60 inches wide and 28 inches deep front to back at the widest points on it's bonnet. The outside of the closet itself measures closer to 54 inches wide and 26 inches from the front of the doors back to the wall. This French Country old pine armoire is beautiful with incredible detailed carvings. Over 200 years old and was originally purchased for $4k or $5K. It held a television at one point so the back panel was cut out but this could be repaired. Solid Oak Handcarved Country French Armoire Wardrobe With Fitted Interior Mint
Is anyone who would normally look at our listings would know. We rarely buy anything French or for that matter anything outside of America. But this was a different story. When I seen it I admire the quality and the craftsmanship that went into making such a nice piece. Made of quartersawn solid white oak the beauty of the wood in itself is wonderful. We just completed a total restoration and the piece needs absolutely nothing. It is handcarved and has detail everywhere you look and everywhere you would want. I would say it is in impeccable condition especially for its age dating around 1872-1880. If you would like a nice wardrobe you won't find one of the style any nicer also it's a very nice size measuring only 82 inches tall 16 inches deep and 41 inches wide.
