Offered here is a gorgeous Large Antique Louis XV Style Walnut Armoire(French) circa 1880-1910. This piece is in very nice condition. It features beautifully carved provencal style flowers with basket at center. With a serpentine shaped apron raised on cabriole legs and original hardware. It features 1 shelf, but more could be added and the original key. The only flaws to mention is a split in the floor of the piece that does not affect the armoire structurally(see picture) and repair to repair to back legs. This piece is a great decorator piece! It measures 91 3/4" tall x 59 1/2" wide x 23 1/2" deep. The armoire is available for local pickup or we can assist the buyer in locating a shipping company. Beautiful in excellent condition Wardrobe/ armoire. Height 6'4" Width 6'6" depth 24" All parts are original except for some of the screws. We had to replace some of the missing screws with modern screws. Not all screws were replaced. It is missing the coat rod. We are not sure of the maker, region of origin, or Wood. We did have an antique dealer/appraiser look at the piece. she told us that she believes that it could be a Spanish or French origin. She was not sure of the maker. She did believe that the wood could be Black Cherry or a Mahogany. She could tell us from the craftsmanship that it was from the 18 hundreds. All the engravings and dove tail ends were done by hand. I am pleased to offer for sale this primitive Walnut antique wardrobe-circa late 19th to very early 20th century. This walnut wardrobe is tall. Primitive and very heavy; it does not knockdown. It features detailed woodwork on the doors and has two bottom drawers that pull out. Approximate measurements: 78" tall from the floor to the top of the crown molding(removable) 48" wide and 17" deep Interior measurements: 59 5/8" tall; 15.5" wide; 46" deep Drawers: 18 1/4" wide; 14 3/8" deep dovetailed ends The sides are solid walnut with the top. Exceptional French Empire Gilt& Patinated Bronze Mounted Mahogany Armoire Probably c. 1880-1910 Item# 130408PXG26 This rare and exciting work of art from the last quarter of the 19th Century is exceptional in every way. An incredible accomplishment. The foundry work executed in this piece is above reproach- each gilt bronze mount is hand chased to the highest quality, mercury gilded and of outstanding detail. An angular and commanding work, the Armoire is surmounted by a triangular crest that is removable from the body with two dowels on either side- this is flanked by a pair of carved mahogany(replaced) finials. Beneath the projecting crown molding, an incredible gilt bronze mount of an angel riding through ocean waves in a cornucopia pulled along by swans while leaving behind a trail of shells is simply stunning. Flanking this on either ... moreside are opposing gilt bronze solider masks. The top is removable. Lifting off of large steel screws inside of the armoire to allow the door to be lifted from it's hinges for easier transportation. On either side of the door, pedestaled on large tapered columns rest large and highly impressive patinated and gilt bronze Classical female heads with bowed ribbon holding her hair back. These are the largest mounts of flawless execution we've seen on a piece from this period, each a stunning work of art in it's own merit. A hand filed steel screw secures each head to the case. Beneath the column, intense gilded Lion Paw's in the Regency manner complete the form. The arched door swings open with use of the original key. Revealing a golden oak interior of four shelves and a single locking drawer. This drawer is hand dovetailed with solid oak secondary woods, when removed revealing an illegible signature in period script along the dust board. Possibly the Black Forest, but I'm no expert in these matters. Its age is unknown. The piece measures 73" high from floor to center of curved top piece. 74" wide and 18" deep. Construction is with mortise and tenon and pin and post. There are NO NAILS OR SCREWS used in its construction. The top and base are each single pieces. The end pieces are also single pieces. The back is comprised of three interlocking pieces. There are two doors at either end with three shelves and base top in each. The top center door reveals a single shelf. We have for auction here a stunning late Victorian rosewood inlaid triple wardrobe dating to the end of the 19th century. This beautiful wardrobe of breakfront design has a central pillar with angular cornice over two fielded panel doors and mirrored back recess over a bank of graduating drawers flanked on either side by mirrored doors enclosing full length hanging being raised on a plinth base. This is a double beveled glass door five dovetail drawer double wood door Victorian burl walnut wardrobe that dates from the 1890s. It’s ... morefantastic looking. And measures 76 inches wide, 20 inches deep, and 85 inches tall. It has an extra heavy crown molded top, beveled glass mirrored doors that measure 20 inches wide on each end, and the inside dimensions behind the doors are 20 inches wide, 16 inches deep, and 72 inches high. There’s plenty of hanging hooks on this unit for lots of storage. In the center are two raised panel burl walnut doors that open to reveal a storage space for a TV that measures 27 inches wide, 18 inches deep, and 32 inches high. There are five raised panel dovetail drawers below the TV space. There is carving on the beveled glass mirrored doors, and original hardware, with the original finish showing a few minor rub marks here and there. This unit has no keys. We go with reproduction. This is one of those pieces that the antique expert is unable to determine from 18th century to 19th century. The inside was at some point updated while yet the exterior and the magnificent carvings are very intricate and the wood itself is very old.
