The piece also features a carving at the center front bottom, capped with a shell motif at the base of the carving at the top. The armoire has the original metal hanging rod still inside which is most likely made of brass.

Antique Victorian Style Mauve Sofa with Ornate Carvings - needs restoration
Antique sofa being sold in"as is" condition. This mauve velvet sofa was purchased at an estate sale more than forty years ago by a late family member. She was told that it was empire style and that it from was the late 1880s. Over the years. This couch was well used and loved. It must be sold. As you can see, it is in need of some serious restoration. The couch no doubt will need to be recoverd. The arms have terrible fraying and you can see the material underneath the velvet. The wood. Which I am not sure if it is mahogany or walnut, needs to be re-stained and some areas of the wood may be fillers. In many areas, it has a"rough" feel. The cushions all have broken zippers and at one time the stuffing was replaced with some cheapy stuff. One of the legs were repaired at one time(see photo- a poor job) Also, the velvet on ... morethe cushions have fray marks as well as one the actual soft. The photos pretty much show all the work needed to get this sofa back in shape. The carving is very pretty and detailed. As you can see, the couch is framed around the back, arms and bottom as well as around the sides of the back. Measurements: 75 inches in length- 31 inches in depth- 37 inches in the back at its highest. I am unable to ship this item- I cannot imagine packing something like this. I inherited this couch and chair. I have no idea what it is or when it was made. I listed it on some antique furniture sites and these are the responses I got: It looks like a 1930s deco-moderne sofa in a Renaissance-Revival or a Romantic-Revival style. could be victorian or a victorian copy 1920- 1940" Looks like mid 1800s(1850-1880) Victorian overstuffed settee with chair. In good condition with all that carving I'd guess $1.200-2,000. USD. The upholstery looks okay in some spots. Terrible in others. Overall, it needs work. I am willing to further investigate this couch and chair upon request and suggestions from you.

Antique Victorian Eastlake Rocker Loveseat Settee Great Wood Carvings Upholstery Need a couple of nice Victorian pieces for those finishing touches in a room. Do not miss these pieces. Recently picked them up at an auction. The wood on these pieces is just beautiful. Probably made in the 1880s to 1890s. I think the wood type is mahogany. But may be walnut, you be the judge. The carvings and scrollings are all still intact and were nicely done. The rocker was certainly used more than the settee and shows wear on the arms to the finish. On the left side of the settee the frame has a split in it that was corrected sometime quite a while ago. There is a bolt thru the repair that was not a part of the original piece. See the pic. I picked this piece up in the condition it is in, so cannot speak to when it was reupholstered, but it was done well ... moreand with a material that is very attractive and heavy, no flimsy stuff here. The pieces are all still tightly together at the joints. The rocker still has both its' springs. The roller wheels are both on the settee's front legs. The rocker is 39.25" tall. By 24.5" across, by 24.5" wide. The loves eat/settee is 40.25" tall. By 48" across, by 23" wide. Sorry. The other items you can see in the pics are not for sale. Up for bid is a lovely Victorian Entrance door. Door has beautiful and complete sets of carving on all quadrants of the front side and is un-embellished Quartersawn Oak on the back side of the door. Entrance door is solid oak. But has 2/16" Quartersawn Oak veneer on both sides of the door. This entrance door will hold up much better if it mounted on a doorway with a porch to protect the door. Door is 79" Tall x 34" wide and 1.75" thick. Bottom of door with molding is 4.5" deep. Door has a sliver of wood missing and this is pictured in Photo#11. it is the bottom left. In order of our photographs. The first wood carving measures 6” tall by 6 ½” wide and 4 ¼” deep and is from the mid to late 19 th century. This carved wood Puti or Angel has an old. Worn painted surface, which is guaranteed to be original. As you can see in our photographs, his left wing-tip was broken off, many, many years ago, but there are no other problems or any restorations. Measuring 10 ¼” long by 5 ½” tall and 4” deep, the second Wood Cherub Carving is from the late 19 th century or very early 20 th century. This hand carved wood cherub has acquired an old dark patina. And is in perfect untouched condition. The third and final piece in this auction is a circa 1900 Plaster of two Angels with open mouths, like they are singing. The gold gilt& painted surface on this 5 ½” long by 4 ½” tall and 2 ½” deep Plaster is original however, there is some paint flecks and a few small chips to the plaster. This book first features a section devoted to wood carvings by Lewis Bieber De Turk[1862-1933] The Pennsylvania woodcarver who specialized in birds and other animal figures. The second section is devoted to a large selection of Victorian perforated-card needlework, with examples drawn from several private collections. Antique Victorian walnut dining room table with nut carvings NO RESERVE!
Walnut table with nut carvings c1850 Beautiful patina/ original finish Moving. Must sell- NO RESERVE This is a beautiful walnut table with graceful legs and intricate nut carvings on the legs and the skirting. It has quite a few stretchers. So I think it could expand considerably, though we have no leaves for it. We do still have the extra support legs. The casters are solid brass with wood rollers. The top is in good condition given it's age. it does have some water marks and a few black stains- see photos for detail on condition. One of the support legs has cracks due to the wood used, not from age. Note that the leg support mechanism is dovetailed, probably by hand. The table top measures 55 X 41 inches.
