The drawer fronts are natural and the case has an old crazed dark ... morebrown finish. The three lower drawers have false keyholes with inlay. All of the hardware is original to the piece (iron hinges and porcelain drawer pulls). It is one piece and stands 80” tall, 54 & 1/2” wide and 22” deep. It is of square nailed construction. We've owned and used it for 30 years and I can attest that it holds a lot. I haven't done a thing to it since I've owned it other than used it for its intended purpose. The upper door panels are split and the back legs are thin but other than that it shows only typical wear from use. It appears to be completely original and will give many, many more years of service. Pick up only.

The glowing finish is very well preserved with losses, repairs and mars for antique character. Waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its glow. Joints have carved pegs instead of nails or screws. Hand planing marks are on every board and the back is rough sawn. Interior shelves are removable. Possibly the Black Forest, but I'm no expert in these matters. Its age is unknown. The piece measures 73" high from floor to center of curved top piece. 74" wide and 18" deep. Construction is with mortise and tenon and pin and post. There are NO NAILS OR SCREWS used in its construction. The top and base are each single pieces. The end pieces are also single pieces. The back is comprised of three interlocking pieces. There are two doors at either end with three shelves and base top in each. The top center door reveals a single shelf. The two smaller doors have a single shelf and base. Loads of space. Carvings: Wonderfully ... morecarved as shown with a total of six deep-carved heads. This is a superb solid mahogany linen press made in England circa 1860. Its in very good condition the polish is all original and a very nice patina. It has been converted into an entertainment center at the top. But we still have all the original slides. It sits on splayed feet to the front its flamed mahogany and still has the original brass handles. There is no back in there because if its going to be used as an entertainment center there has to be ventilation. Measurements are 50 wide. You can fit a 46 inch wide tv in there,88 tall,21 deep. The top comes of the base so it is easy to transport.

The top section has a brass dividing strip. Aggressive lion paw feet. Brasses are a Victorian era up-date. Mahogany with highly figured crotch mahogany veneers, secondary woods of white pine and poplar. 48 x 24 x 95" in two sections. The bureau section does not have a top just molding around the edges which adds confirmation to this having always been a press.Requires some conservation, nice old polish. Beautiful mahogany wood has a fine old finish, waxed and polished so that all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are shrinkage separations from age and minor mars at the edges for character. Drawers and the back were restored with hand cut dovetail joints by a skilled carpenter many years ago after this understated antique was brought to America. Expert construction includes delicate inlaid banding and pegged joints on raised panel doors. Original brasses have embossed grape clusters. The door lock does not work. The key is a handle only.
