Both pieces have been refinished, but missing veneer work was not done, so, as you can see in pics 4& 8 there is slight edge veneer loss at the front side corners. In pic 5 you can barely see that the veneer has been re-glued. There are a few nicks here and there, and there are hardware circles around a couple of the drawer pulls, where the handles have been rotated and made a circle in the wood around. The hardware, as well as the design, makes this piece much more eye catching, with steel pulls and horizontal rosewood tips on each pull. This piece measures 54" x 32" x 18" deep. Attractive storage box. Professionally crafted, with dovetailed drawers and gray felt interiors. It is simple and utilitarian, yet attractive. The dimensions of the cabinet are 16 3/8 inches wide, 11 3/4 inches deep, and 8 1/2 inches high. The drawers are 11 1/2 inches long. And 7 inches across. Each drawer is 1 1/2 inches deep inside. The front of the case and drawers are solid oak. The outside of the box is veneer, as this is casework, constructed of finish grade plywood. The sides and backs of the drawers are solid wood. Under the felt interior of the drawers are triangular pieces of wood to create divisions. All of the surfaces are nicely varnished. You can see from photos it is great for fountain pens or jewelry, such as rings, bracelets or necklaces. I believe it was originally for spools of sewing thread. It measures 34.5" x 56.5" x 20" There are a total of eight drawers with the two top drawers measuring 3.5" deep by 22' and the bottom six drawers are 4.5" deep by 22" wide providing plenty of storage space.The dresser is like new with very light scratches on the top and a couple of places where a small furniture pen was used to do a touchup. The drawers are dovetail construction with drawer dusters between each drawer. There are brackets on the back of the dresser where a mirror was attached. I handmade this mahogany and curly maple cabinet. The outside case is made of mahogany veneer plywood. The top and bottom are solid mahogany. Notice the details of fine craftsmanship: The curly maple panels in the door are beautifully book-matched from a single board. The eight dovetailed drawer fronts are also sequentially cut from a single curly maple board and the grain pattern flows from drawer 1 to drawer 8. The other three sides of each drawer are made from solid mahogany with plywood bottoms. The back of the cabinet is a beautiful piece of curly maple veneer. I used quality oil-rubbed bronze hardware for the drawer pulls. H-hinges, and door catch. I like my furniture pieces to be beautiful from any angle. Antique marquetry spice cabinet Wood inlay 8 inch chest of drawers jewellery box
An old inlaid miniature cabinet. I am not sure whether it was made for a specific purpose. Such as a jewellery box or a spice cabinet. It has certainly been used as a spice cabinet- two of the drawers still have a faint aroma of tea. 6 drawers. Two of them covered by a sliding"door" White knob handles. There is inlaid marquetry decoration. With geometric patterns, on the fronts of the four"exposed" drawers, and in a central panel on the sliding door. I am not sure when or where this cabinet was made. But it is certainly not recent, and I would think probably in the early part of the 20th century. Condition: Basically good condition. But not perfect. It was made for practical use as well as ornament. And it has clearly been used. It has some scratches and scuffs. And some minor damage. All 6 drawers work and are basically ... moreintact. But there are minor splits in the bases of 2 small drawers, and the long drawer at the bottom(the one with the initials on the base) has more damage, as shown. The sliding"door" that covers the top 2 right-hand drawers has clearly been repaired in the past. And is a bit loose. The inlaid panel is warped, and the frame surrounding this panel has been glued together messily. It really needs to be taken apart and mended properly. It sits well in place when the cabinet is on a flat surface, but if the cabinet is tilted forward, it falls out. There are some small chips in the drawer handles. The back panel is split just above the base. One of the wooden"shelves" dividing the drawers is loose on one side. Please look at all the pictures- the damaged parts are shown clearly in the last few pictures. We have for auction a set of 8 Drawer Handles. We found these at an auction-the waterfall chest of drawers they were on was unredeemable. So we bought it and took the hardware off of it. They are metal handles with what appears to be Bakelite inserts. The Bakelite part measures 1 1/2 inches by 2 inches and the metal measures 1 1/4 inches by 2 1/2 inches. The holes on the backside of the metal handle measure 2 1/2 inches apart. We are also including the original screws. The pictures show the actual condition. There is no reserve. Up for bids is a magnificient peice of Baker Furniture Chest. With three large drawers on the bottom half and three large drawers with two smaller drawers on the top. It is approx. 25' wide X 55" tall X 17" deep. It is solid wood and beautifully detailed. Inside one of the upper drawers in the signed Baker Furniture logo. I am not an expert in wood but it is mahogny in color with the inside of drawers appearing to be oak. Dove tail joints are perfect with outside carving details and lovely hardware. It is a beautiful peice. I have three peices up for sale, this is for one of the set. On another auction, I have the matching larger chest in the same style and another one, the matching queen size bed. All by Baker Furniture. Made in USA. Has wonderfully constructed dove tail drawers with plywood drawer dividers, wooden runners, great wooden pulls, and recessed lower handles. The slant front has two small parts of KEUFFEL& ESSER CO. and the key lock part of the AGLELOCK TERRYVILLE CONN. USA but the key is missing. The slant front is in two pieces, but all parts are intact, with 4 brass screws are including. The chest has 8 solid brass corners, 4 on top and 4 on bottom. The handle is in poor condition. The metal does show some rust patina but overall for their age and rarity they are awesome. Each set are secured to each other by a wire I will leave them as found and you can take them apart. The porcelain wheels are near perfect can find no chips cracks etc and the only problem with the metal feet is some surface rust. They could stand a good cleaning they have been stored in the garage for many years. These are very old they came from my grandmothers estate sale. Recently acquired it at an estate sale. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself. Great old machinist's chest to be used again or to convert to a jewelry box. Great oak exposed wood finish on this case. The corners are dovetailed and the corner edges still have their metal protectors on them. The right side has 3 vertical cracks in it that run from top to bottom that need some gluing attention. The 8 drawers are still lined with felt. Although dirty from the tools that have been stored in it. The brass metal knobs are still on each of the drawers. Some of the drawers have a hard board for a bottom and some have a galvanized steel. ... moreThe lock has been taken out of the box. Not sure of the maker of the box. Could be a Gerstner. Hi. Offered here is one. Used, vintage sewing chest. This is BIG! It has eight drawers. 2 drawers are 8"x12" 6 drawers are 5"x 5" The large compartment is 17" x 7" There is a mirror that is 3 1/2" x 15" Cloth covered. Large tassel on the front. Opens and closes great. The mirror section folds down. The structure is either like a thinner wood or heavy duty cardboard. There is a little bit of damage and wear. Please see all pictures for up close views as well as measurements. This chest was used as a sewing chest, however, I think it could also be used for jewelry. No makers mark that I could find. I'm sure you will not be disappointed in this! And it's heavy! Item has been stored for quite awhile.
