This antique Duncan Phyfe solid mahogany wood magazine rack measures 16' wide. 17' tall at the center cutout handle and is 12' deep. There are some markings on the bottom, but there is not a company makers name or stamp. The surface has some scratches and the finish on some edges are worn. There are a few small nicks. The center divider with the handle moves slightly when lifting the piece. Overall this piece is very solid and secure. The side panels and decorative slats on both sides are thick and heavy solid Mahogany Wood. 3/4' thick side panels and 1/2' thick slats. Beautiful warm rich color with a great patina. This piece is all original. Has Not been refinished or touched up. No Reserve! Price includes packing materials.

Eames Era Nasco Wooden Folding Magazine Rack Mid Century Modern Yugoslavia 1950s
Up for auction we have this FANTASTIC mid century modern/ craftsman style/ Eames Era. Folding magazine rack. Circa 1958 It is in wonderful condition with only minor wear. It has horizontal slats on the bottom in a curved shape with a sturdy carrying handle. When opened the top of it is 20 1/2" long& 19" tall, but folds up flat to measure 2" deep. There are few minor dings in the wood but nothing too bad and you can see from the photos how pretty it is. There is a spot in the center of the slats where the wood is a little worn. It is stamped on the bottom Masterpiece In Wood Nasco Yugoslavia. This comes from a clean smoke free home with a dog and is a lovely beautiful piece.

Up for auction is a unique vintage antique Victorian hanging magazine rack with an original painting on the front of blue corn flowers. This was found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. We put this ca 1880- 1905 due to the period frame and painting and its style. There are many losses to the plaster and gesso of the frame- but it is a wonderful frame that would look great with minor touch up- even a"faux" touch up would be great. The wood backing should be replaced. The painting could use a cleaning(a ball of a piece of wonder bread would get most of the dust and grime) The painting. On tin, is 9 3/4" x 13 1/2" more of a European sizing) on a very thin board that has lost some of the nails holding it in place. The whole overall piece hanging on the wall would be13.5 x 17.5" On one side the chain that ... moreholds the two open has come away and will need possibly a new fastener or nailed behind the frame as the other appears to be. Unique MAGAZINE RACK Art Deco Cherry Wood, Steel, Iron, and Copper CANTERBURY
This super fine Canterbury has great style and exceptionally detailed workmanship. The piece is 28.5" tall. 16.75" wide, and 11.5" deep. I am not an expert on furniture so I will describe what I see and try not to label. I don't know who made the piece or when, though it it is an antique and I don't know where it was made. The four standing posts and the four other rectangular bars that connect these are made from cherry wood. The castors are iron and really they look medieval. On top of the two front standing posts are beautiful copper finials. The two behind these are missing the finials, there is a close-up where these are missing. Below the finials are wonderful thin copper plaques that have been pressed with clean linear designs, the front two are identical, and the back two are similar, but identical to each other. ... moreThe design on these coppers parallels the design on the back panel with the oval, and the balled ends to the side rods surrounding the oval. All of the remaining rods are metal. Either copper or otherwise, except the back bar on the bottom, and five bars making the bottom'shelf' These I believe are wood and may have been added later. I think they have been painted to appear similar to the rest of the piece, and they have a smooth finish and are not constructed the way the following are. The metal rods are constructed with copper or metal that has been cut into strips and then somehow pinched on the inside to create a seam. The rods are hollow making them light, yet very strong. Now- the exception to those are the five top'shelf' bars and one of the thin bars on the side. I would say these are steel as the rods do not have seams and have spiral grooves like a screw. There are close-ups of everything. There is overall wear and very thick patina on this piece, Two areas worth mentioning are in close-up photos. This stunning piece is from a country estate in Northwestern PA. It measures approximately 18 1/2" long x 15" wide x 16" tall. It is made of solid wood and is very heavy weighing 15lbs. It is older. Has been well maintained, and only has light scuffs and surface scratches. It does have one chip in the wood at one of the top sides(please see the last photo) It appears to have been touched up because it is the same color has the finish. This dates to the late 1800s and is made of solid Oak. It has an ornate stick and ball motif with a diamond shaped Beveled mirror in the center of the large front circle. The bentwood piece in the center have fancy ornate brass caps and the ones on the bottom and top ends also have brass caps. The wide wall frame is the same lovely golden oak. The frame measures 19 1/2" by 16 1/2" The magazine rack will open to about 12" deep. There are brass chains on both ends and you could adjust the depth if you wanted to. The former owner lovingly hand refinished all of the Oak wood over 50 years ago. At the time he also replaced the back board and painted it ... moregreen. You could change the color if desired. This magazine rack is pretty old. My Grammy had it for as long as I can remember and I am in my 50's. It is real cow hide, leather and stirrups look to be brass. Under where the handle is on the top in the wood is a crack(separation actually) that can be easily repaired, otherwise this unique piece of antique furniture is in pretty good condition. The leather is worn like something over 50 years old would be. I have always loved this piece, but have to move and will not have a place for it. James Shoolbred’s Tottenham Court Road company began life as a drapers. It began supplying textiles to the furniture trade, and expanded into the stores either side, branching into interior design. By the 1870s, the company was designing and manufacturing its own furniture. A major factor of James Shoolbred’s success was their detailed catalogues. Which were published from around 1873. Configured to showcase the company’s designs beyond the confines of London, they made Shoolbred an overnight success. Today, dealers in Cumbria selling Victorian dining chairs and other Shoolbred staples find these catalogues invaluable in identifying, dating and valuing the pieces.
