For sale today is a beautifully restored humpback curved top trunk with herringbone pattern of embossed tin. The restoration turned out awesome. The pictures do not do it justice. It is an impressive trunk! I found one patent date on the center lock of March 1869 which makes this great old trunk as much as 144 years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the wood bottom is in very good condition. Has had multiple coats of black paint applied and has four original bottom slats.The trunk has the two original hinges which are HD, fancy, tight, work well and the lid closes well. There are 14 pieces of original polished hardware! It has the original center lock which has been polished and there is no key. A new brass lid stay was installed. Antique Trunk - Herringbone Embossed Tin - Wonderful Restoration - Circa 1880's
For sale today is a medium to large size nicely restored humpback embossed tin trunk and the restoration turned out just awesome! The embossed tin is in a herringbone pattern and the tin is in good condition. I did not find any patent dates on the trunk and based on 40 years experience restoring trunk I would date this trunk to th 1880's to 1890's which makes this wonderful old humpback a 100 plus years old- a true antique. This trunk was structually sound when the restoration started and it has a good bottom. The metal has multiple coats of paint applied and has the two original wide slats on the bottom. It has the two original hinges that are heavy duty, tight and work well. There are 30 plus pieces of polished hardware. The trunk has the original center lock and it has been polished- no key. Professionally Restored Antique Trunk Embossed Tin & Beveled Lid Patent 1880
For sale today is a small to medium size nicely restored flat top steamer trunk with embossed tin and a beveled lid and the restoration turned out just awesome! The embossed tin pattern is fine wire mesh- see the close up picture. I found one patent date on the hardware of March 1880 which makes this wonderful old flat top trunk a 120 to 130 years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started. It has a good bottom and the metal was painted. It has the three original hinges that are heavy duty. Fancy, tight and work well. There are forty plus pieces of polished hardware. It has the original Yale and Towne center lock- no key, it has been polished and the key# is AB. A new black leather lid lifter was installed. It still has both of the original latches and both work poorly.
