I found these at an estate sale in an old barn along with another pair I restored that I have listed right now. Rich, warm, wood tones would go very well with most decor. They are circa 1950 skis, serial number 823 and the length is 6' 11" ... moreThe brand name is ALPINE with Dovre-Kabel bindings. They were covered in dirt and dust and the hardware was tarnished and had started to rust in many places. I really liked that a good bit of the original paint remained and that the owner had painted his initials on the tails of the skis so. I decided to restore these and keep them as original as possible but make them look really sharp. I removed all the hardware and sanded the wood with fine grit paper. Removing some of the finish and grime but, being careful to retain what was left of the original paint scheme. Someone years ago had recoated them with varnish and I removed most all of that. I then sprayed them with several coats of hi-gloss lacquer which I hand-rubbed between coats. This brought them back to life, yet retained their vintage paint scheme, look and the majority of the original finish and paint. All the metal hardware. Original screws included, was then sanded, steel wooled and polished, which took several hours. The bottoms of the skis were sanded and sealed with three sealer coats, keeping the original paint on the bottoms. In all, I spent about 8 or 9 hours plus materials restoring them so, most of the pric

c. 1830 American Pine Fireplace Mantle Hudson Valley NY
This mantlepiece removed from a Newburg N.Y. farmhouse in the 1980's. Had the paint stripped off shortly thereafter and been in storage since then. It is a very fine example of American furniture design. Particularly fireplace mantlepieces of the early 1800's. It has splendid bed molding work beneath the shelf. Sadly. The original milk paint has been stripped off, but care has been taken to keep the moldings in good condition. The piece is sound but does need some restoration of the plinths. Up for sale is a Beautiful Antique Oak Fireplace Mantle from circa 1910. It is is from a Capitol Hill home undergoing renovation. The mantle was professionally uninstalled. It has a lovely mirror built into the mantle. The mantle comes with a gas fireplace with matching wood surrounding it. The gas fireplace was bought to fit perfectly under the mantle. The mantle will need minor repair and detailing but is in great shape for being approximately 100 years old.
