I often see these opal painted shades on Arts& Crafts fittings in the past. Th ese shades were made for gas lamps with Comet shade holders which featured a usually well made tripod holder that you would set it on and then a set screw would push a small clasp against the inner surface of the s hade to secure it in place. This one-off piece has been made by someone who is skillful in the art of copper beating! The lid portrays a chicken(in raised relief) All four sides of the box depict a sunrise. I have found it a very difficult item to date. But it has a very'Arts and Crafts' look and feel to it, although there is'something' about it which makes me think it was possibly made some decades later! It is uncleaned. With a very nice aged patina to it. The box is lined in a dark red felt which looks to be of some age. It is hand stamped on the copper base with the name KATE LULU or KATE KULU. This is a beautiful and highly sought after Arts& Crafts Sterling Silver tray made by the famous FRALICK NOVICK. He came to Chicago in 1907 and opened his own shop. He became one of the main designers for the for the respected KALO shop. He became known as the"tray man" and his work in silver has always been greatly valued. This beautiful tray was a wedding present to my parents in 1928. Note that it has a family monogram applied to it which makes it even more special. More often. Initials were simply engraved into the silver. This tray has a 10-1/4" diameter and weighs 322.2 DWT(16.ll ounces) I got this information from a gold/silver store. This beautiful antique firescreen has a frame and filigree scroll work of hand hammered wrought iron. At the base of the screen there is scenery made of sheet metal. On the left panel. At the bottom there is a small house siting adjacent to a wind mill on a bluff. The lower edge of the main center panel has from left to right a small evergreen tree, a cabin, a tall evergreen tree, in the center there are two deer facing each other, then another tall evergreen tree, then there is a small boat with two people fishing. At the bottom of the right side panel there are two trees, one a small evergreen sapling, and a larger tree with a silhouette of ... morea bird. Along the top edge of the frame there is some delicate beautifully wrought scroll work, and two long tailed birds facing inward. Along the top curved edge of the screen are two handles. At the the bottom outside corners of the screen are two very ornately scrolled feet to keep the screen upright and stable. The main panel of the screen measures 29 inches wide. By 34 1/2 inches tall. The side panels are both 8 inches wide, by 28 inches tall. This screen weighs approximately 25 pounds. Condition- The condition of this piece is excellent. 3 ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER PLATES - HAND WROUGHT- ARTS & CRAFTS
These are 3 lovely Sterling Silver Plates that were hand wrought in the early1920's. They were from a set of butter or dessert plates owned by my grandparents and I got these 3 when the set was divided up by the family. There is a stamp on the back that identifies the company that made them. If you know the name of that company. Please let me know. I do know that they are skillfully hand wrought. There were many excellent artisans during the time of Novick and Kalo and one of those artisans must have made these. My grandparents lived in Chicago too. Each plate measures 6-1/2" diameter. The letter H is not engraved. But is applied to the plate. There is also a raised 1/8" wide lip going around the edge of the plate. I took one plate to a gold/silver jeweler and he said it weighed 4.82 Troy ounces. So the three together are about ... more14.46 Troy ounces. They are each nice and heavy and without any damage that I can see. Of course there is some light scratching which could easily be buffed out. These plates are stunning and so beautifully made. Photographed is a hand crafted and very attractive copper bowl decorated with pears and grapes. It measures 27 cm in diameter and is 10.3 cm in depth. It sits on three solid copper ball feet as can be seen in the fifth photograph. The rim has an applied copper twist. This lovely bowl would make an excellent fruit bowl or would be equally nice displayed alone. It is well made and a one off. no reserve this is a beauty. Easly over 100 years and probably much older. I ha no choice but to clean and poish the front. Years ago someyone left something in it that hardened. It was like hardened pine pitch. Maybe maple syrup. I had to use chemicles to remove most of it and hand wite brush the rest. Was quite the job. Byt it all came off.I left the back alone. Nice natral patina look. I think it wa once tinned or some kind of plating that is 98 persent worn off frome cleaning and scrubbing for yeard. Note the fance desiegn work. Hand Hammered Silver Bowl & Saucer Set Arts & Crafts Style
I will start by telling you these two silver metal pieces have no markings on them. That I could find. However, they are very well made, and as you can see by the pictures are a very nice hand crafted pair. The bowl measures approx. 4 1/2" across X 2 1/4" high. The saucer measures 6" across X 7/8" high. The saucer has an indent in the center to hold the bowl in securely. When I was polishing the interior of the bowl, the black marks shown the color of copper. I am not saying this is silver on copper, I am only telling you what I saw) The black marks(pic#3) are not scratches, looks like crayon, but it would not polish off. Antique 1910's, Craftsman Co., Arts and Crafts Hand Made Copper Bowl
Original Arts and Crafts period copper bowl. Manufactured by the Craftsman Company. C.1910 This is a vintage. Signed Arts& Crafts piece by Craftsman Co. It is also stamped, Hand Made. It is hand turned and hammered copper with a hand crimped lip. It is approximately 10 1/2 in diameter. Nicely detailed copper work- it shows the Arts& Crafts era botanical focus staying true to form. Nice hammered design. It still has its original copper patina with very little wear to it. It is fully marked on the base with the anvil mark and the Craftsman Co mark as well as a stamped number 892. In very good antique vintage condition. See all photos. They constitute part of the description. Great buy for the bridge player.a hand hammered copper tray with riveted corners to hold decks of cards and bridge score pads. A wonderful example of the Arts& Crafts movement. Even the"Bridge" plate has been riveted onto the tray. The piece is not signed. There probably were four feet/pads on the bottom of the tray which are now missing. Great OF THE PERIOD Arts and Crafts vase. Hand hammered. And decorated with an interesting design, and of impressive size. This vase is signed with initials on the bottom. I cannot find out who the signer is. Beautifully done vase. The vase was turned into a lamp sometime in 1930's, but luckily, the person did not drill on center, so they could save in hand signed signature. The vase has two pronounced dents in the lower part of the body. And in my opinion, doesn't take away from the sheer beauty of the vase. I have been trying to do research on this item for the longest time but other than knowing its from Dirk Van Erp I have not been able to find this certain style of candlestick listed anywhere. This item is very well made! Copper rivets attach base and handle to column without an iota of play. Constructed by the best metal craftsmen of the day! Candlestick measures 6" across base at widest part. Stands exactly 3 1/2 inches tall. Top flange had what I thought was a wax spout which turned out to be just a small bend. I had this repaired by a well known Portland Oregon copper craftsman who wanted to keep it. If you need anything answered just ask.

This beautiful mantel clock uses exposed dovetail joinery. It is made entirely of quarter sawn oak. It has a 3 1/2" inch face with a very accurate quartz movement. Made in the USA, that operates on a single"AA"battery. It is patterned from mission clocks made in the 1900-1925 era as shown in old issues of Popular Mechanics. The exposed joinery sets this clock apart from other mantel clocks of this style. It has a hand rubbed walnut danish oil finish. We have used connector bolts to add to the retro look and feel. This is nicely hand hammered copper vase with a 1/4" brass collar around the top. It is constructed of a heavy gauge copper. The shape is hexagon. Nice patina. Some discoloration. Green streak on one side, oxidation I am guessing. A few black specks all over. I have not cleaned this piece so maybe this will all go away? Nice little jig jag stamped design of circles on brass collar. I have taken pictures of all sides including top and bottom, so you judge for yourself. Maybe from the Roycroft, Stickley era. The gold(not sure if real) is chipped off the wood in many places throughout the frame. Then it was varnished over what appears to have been some time ago. Very unusual finish& patina. Hand made Arts and Crafts period vase. The vase is in beautifully patinated unpolished condition and measures 6 1/2' tall by 2 3/4" in diameter at the base. The vase was apparently made in two parts- there is a very difficult to detect joint connecting the top of the stem to the base of the flower holder. There is a rolled rim at the top and the outside is hand chased including the foot. Excellent condition throughout with no dents. Someone may have used it as a candle holder at some time because when you look inside there appears to be some red wax at the bottom about 1/4 of the way up. No markings on the piece to indicate the maker but obviously skillfully crafted from around the turn of the 20th. century. William Morris. The bottom is curved and the lid has dents, but this is a very primitive piece and a wonderful example of Arts and Crafts. Nice original patina- I wiped them off with a damp rag to clean off the dust, and they came up nice, without damaging the original patina. I heavily cleaned the underside of one to show the rich copper color underneath(11th photo) The machining, and file marks are still visible in areas, and add to the great texture. They measure 4 7/16" tall, 4 15/16" wide, 3 7/16" deep, and the bases are 15/16" thick. Excellent condition with attractive age wear. Email with any questions, and check out my other listings!

This antique Arts& Crafts walnut tray is just stunning! Hand carved decorative openwork inner border depicts a twining and detailed vine. While the handles also have floral touches where they connect with the tray. The bottom has"sled runners" to allow the tray to sit up off of a tabletop. There are subtle adze marks on the tray, both top and bottom, as well as several other spots where, if you look closely, you can see evidence of hand craftsmanship. This tray deserves a place of honor! Unsure of maker. From the late 1800s. Has some damage; there are cracks on both sides(in the openwork) that run with the grain. Hand Embroidered Section Sewing Arts & Crafts Needlework Flower Quilting Project
This is a very pretty hand embroidered section of a fabric square. The embroidery is of a basket of flowers. It is very niecly done and probably just needs framing unless you would like to add more to it. It looks very polished elegant and clean. The embroidery looks like it was done with a thin wool yarn. And so it stands up and makes a sort of raised texture due to the tight and neat handy work of the stitches made. The needlework design seems to be intricate and very well done. The style is very Elegant and Shabby Chic. It measures 12" x 9 1/2" The edges are not finished off so it will either need to be framed, used for a pillow, or whatever other purpose you have. It is a very beautiful small work of art, and would be a great addition to any cottage, cabin, or home. It appears to be in great condition. Huge Original Primitive Mary Olivia Hand Forged Arts& Crafts Copper Jug Huge Original Primitive Mary Olivia Hand Forged Arts& Crafts Copper Jug This is a primitive Arts and Crafts hand made jug measuring 10.25" tall and 9" across the bottom. It has a copper tube handle applied with hand made copper brads. The body of the jug has a seam at the handle and the top rim is made from bending down a quarter inch of the copper sheet. I'm leaving this jug as unpolished just like I bought it with green patina and splatters of wax around a part of the bottom. It also has a few dents and the top is wonderfully out of round.
