This is a really fabulous English Georgian Bilston enamel hand painted miniature scene plaque. the sort of item usually found on top of a snuff box- patch box- pill box etc. you will have all seen them. this however you will notice is in its own PERIOD oval brass frame. double raised border edge to make it look like a picture within a frame. possibly from a 1740- 1840 DOLLS HOUSE.or someone did say they have seen similar items on Georgian furniture.as furniture fittings.obviously from an aristocratic family with a large country mansion. only the very rich folks could afford such items. it has a tin metal back. the ... morebrass frame is slightly bent over on the back. see the photographs. The oval front is slightly domed. as in its higher in the centre than at the edge. it has a typical English country scene of a church with the flat roof TOWER type. and beautiful trees and shrubbery around with two people walking to it. the frame ends have two small holes and some old cotton in them now.as it has been sewn onto something.maybe even an elaborate BELL PULL for instance.any number of furniture fitting decorative items.
