It does have a lot of surface scratches on it from use ... moreover the years. The desk is made of solid wood, although I am not sure what type of wood it is, and it is finished in a dark veneer. It was made by Best Buy Office Equipment. This is not the Best Buy stores of today, but was a small one store operation. I am unsure of the exact age of the desk but I would guess that it dates to the 1950's or possibly into the early 1960's. It has had a keyboard slide out platform added to it that came from Staples. I do not know when this was added, but it was most likely fairly recently. The height beneath this pull out where the chair would go is 24.5" high. The desk is 29.5" tall, 20" deep, 60" wide.

The dovetails on one of the drawers look like they are beginning to break, and may need some light repair. I am unsure of the type of wood that the stand is made from, but it looks like Cherry to me.

My 30 listings this month will be available till April 28th. A wonderful Meiji portable chest meant for caligraphy. Built with hardwood of the best quality. Called zelkova, from the Japanese serrata elm tree family. The grain is a warm brown with lighter tan striations and curves. The metal ware is copper cut in simple designs except for the front pieces of the three drawers and ornate lock. This piece was varnished originally. And was cleaned off and revarnished more recently. You can see the darker tones around the metal pieces. It measures 11 inches long by 8 inches high by 7.5 ... moreinches wide. There are three drawers of different sizes that fit snugly all the way across the chest. The top is hinged with a working round snap latch. That is pushed in to lift the lid using the handle. It covers another compartment finished in black enamel, that will accomodate the larger calligraphy tools. This pieces was acquired at an American auction and that time it was indicated that it belonged to the Takeda family estate. The base is marked with a logo representing a mountain and a symbol underneath, this was burned in the surface. Condition is very good but not perfect. I think if you compare it to similar pieces from the same period of mid-Meiji period or 1885. It is a collectable item with no major issues. As stated, a revarnish was done at some point which removed the wood`s dark patina as well as the copper`s. If left alone, all surfaces would be evenly dark. All the metal surfaces are clean and smooth with no errosion. A few copper head nails are missing and the lock`s key is missing. The smallest drawer at top right shows signs of a black ink spill on the left side(see images) The wood is in good shape. The lid has a bit of warping on the left edge as most

Vintage Celluloid early plastic japanese 3 dragons dragon drawers jewelry box
Mid century or earlier. Celluloid, highly detailed Japanese motif, dragon drawers. Needs a good cleaning. bottom two drawers are lined but the top is not, the second drawer does come all the way out because of a small a small chip in the plastic catch in the back of the drawer. It doesn't affect the drawer function, just that the top and bottom drawers can not be removed. a few scratches in back. So the decorative woodwork is all on the left side of the drawers. The drawers are made of solid oak with ornately detailed carvings on the front and left side of each drawer. Antique East Lake Dresser walnut with tilting mirror 3 drawers
Here is an antique East Lake-style walnut top dresser with tilting mirror and 3 drawers from the late 1800s. Dark refinished walnut solid wood. Mirror has beveled edges. Drawer sides are dovetailed to faces and backs. Six drawer pulls all the same. Locks for each drawer but no key. Cabinet measures 42 inches long. 19 inches deep and 30-1/2 inches tall. Mirror adds 46 inches for overall height of 76-1/2 inches. Total weight of cabinet and mirror is 120 lbs. Mirror is removable from dresser. Condition: Dresser is in very good condition. Wood joints are tight. There is no damage except for a small wood repair about ½ inch diameter that is very dark in the mirror frame top left. There are also six ¾ inch circular dark spots in the walnut top where there were foam rubber spacers supporting a protective glass top. Walnut with Pine Secondary woods. 2 small drawers over 3 dovetailed graduated drawers(pine secondary woods with chamfered drawer bottoms) Fluted quarter columns. Ogee Bracket Feet(replacements) Dovetailed Case Top and bottom. This Chest of Drawers was always a low chest. The sideboards come all the way through the case to the form the outline for the feet, typical of Pennsylvania Furniture made around 1789-1790's. This chest has been restored. No significant reworkings have happened aside form replacing the feet. there are however several drawer patches, and 2 lock holes slugged up. The hardware are most likely replacements. This is a nice jewelry box/ there are three drawers. The top two swivel out. There is a mirror on the lid when it if raised. The top has one large lined area 6" x 5" The second drawer is divided into four areas and the last drawer is divided in half- the one side has 6 bumps into which rings can be nestled. 5" tall. Bottom drawer is 2" deep and the other two are 1" deep. There is slight wear and could use a cleaning.
