This large cast iron finial is from a large iron fence that once surrounded a school for persons of African descent on Dandridge Avenue in Knoxville. It measures approximately 14" tall and 4.5" wide at the largest points. The hole in the base is about 1.25" square. The post topper weighs 12 pounds and has a rust patina from age. Here is a vintage wrought iron FINIAL made in New Orleans. I don't know its exact age. It has some white shabby paint to give it a Shabby Chic look. Its shape makes think of a Fleur de Lys. But also of a Pine Cone. The hole underneath is square. It is in great condition. I just see a little rust underneath, but nothing terrible. It is a heavy and wonderful piece. Size: 4 3/4" high. 3" wide, 1 3/8" thick. Combined shipping is of course welcome.

Beautiful. 8" antique flame or torch architectural, fireplace or fence finial with a hollow 2 1/2" square base. I'm fairly certain that it is made of brass, which would lead one to believe it has to do with a fireplace. As you see it has a beautiful patina and where it is worn on the edges you can see the brass color coming through. This would make a beautiful, unique decorative piece. The weight is 3 1/2 lbs. To me it has an Art Deco style, though it may be much older as it came from a country estate and had been stored away in an old farmhouse for many years.
