This is a quite superb wooden oak gothic finial with the pair of lion heads to either side with other carvings of which: During our research we have been informed it certainly dates from the early period of the 19th century and is of a black forest origin. Dates about c1820. Wonderful overall intricate carved finial with the quite superb carved gothic lion heads to either side. Leaf and other to the top. Carved in relief. Therefore a one piece carved finial. Other carvings of around the circumference. The carved decorative oak finial has an overall height of about 9.25inches. Max dia of about 7.25inches. Gorgeous grain and patina. From the tip of the top bradd finial to the bottom of screw is 2 ¾. Screw tip included in the measurement so will be a bit shorter. There are no chips, cracks, seperation, broken parts, etc. The finials had been used at one time because clear wood glue residue can be seen on the undersides.
