Large Wood Architectural Finials
Pair of old hand turned finials for stair posts. Railings or? These are made of either fir or pine and although similar each is different. They are about 12" high and 4" across. There is some checking and minor chipping(see photo) I bought a few of these in the 1980's from a Virginia lumber mill that was going out of business and I was told then that they had been in inventory for 20 years+. They are sound with some age checking and could be used for their original purpose or as decorative elements. The pair pictured is not necessarily the pair that you will receive.

Up for auction, Simply beautiful Vintage ART DECO Style and Era Bronzed Resin NUDE Lady Lamp Finial. The material is not a metal. But it is hard to the touch. I listed it as synthetic, I'm guessing some sort of hard resin material. It is painted to look identical to a bronzed metal look. The threads are on the bottom and are"male" or opposite what one would normally find. You can use it as is for your Lamp. Or remove the threaded part and use as you would like.a small statue to adorn a vanity, mirror, or mantle. The condition is very nice with no damage. No repairs. The base is approx. 3 3/4 inches in diameter. The base can be made smaller or larger up to a point, and the widest part is approx. 3 3/4 inches in diameter. It has a tenon on the bottom for mounting. These pieces were tycally removed from an spanish altars in the mid 20th century and they are very popular as architectural accents and finials. Description Vintage cast iron finial with a very ornate design and detail. I don't know what exactly this is off of but it sure is cool. It has a two piece design with two windows in the front. See pictures. This fine piece has some grand detail! You could really get creative with this piece. Quite unique! Approximate Measurements It is 9" tall overall and is 8" x 4" wide. A Genuine London Buckingham Palace Gate Latern Finial Crown Architectual Element This is an Amazing Find. How would you like to own a piece of Buckingham Palace? Here is an exciting architectural object from one of the most important British palaces and the ancestral home of Queen Elizabeth and the Royal family. I can't think of a better souvenir of the 2012 Summer Olympics. I bought this crown several years ago from the grandson of a longtime London resident. He told me that during the blitz of London in the fall of 1940. Buckingham palace was hit by Nazi bombs and a chapel and part of the gates were destroyed. His grandfather, like many residents of London, took to the streets to help with the cleanup the day after the raid. He came across this crown which was a finial to one of the gates lanterns. It was the upper most portion of the ... morelantern that vented the hot exhaust from the gas lamp. He picked up this crown, took it to a London bobby who was nearby and asked if he could keep it. the Bobby told him yes and he then took it home. It was discovered in his garage by his grandson following his death in 2002. Clear documentation of this story would be difficult to obtain. But it could be done. The best documentation I have is the piece itself which matches many of the elements of the Buckingham gates perfectly. I have always wanted to make a trip to London to find its exact match in the gates and do some additional research, but I haven't been able to do so. The copper portion of the crown has a wonderful dark verdigris patina. The gilt bronze is still bright. The base of this is approximately 5.5" square. Finely detailed the wings and head have feathers that look real. The talons are wrapped around what looks like a rock. Each talon has multiple lines giving it life like qualities as well. The front of the eagle has a finely feather detailed chest with a well defined beak and eyes.
