Hi there. This is a Vintage Architectural Salvage Cast Aluminum Finial Top that measures 17" tall x 15" wide corner to corner. This piece has no damages and is very solid. It is constructed of a very thick aluminum and has black paint that shows a natural patina. It appears it may have been hinged on one side as there are 2 molded brackets with cotter keys in them and a small hole on the opposite side. A set of 2 vintage roof ridge finials made of metal. The ball is apr. 3 1/2 inches in diameter. The overall length is apr. 6 1/4 inches. The metal does have some discoloration from being exposed to the elements. The balls do have some very light dings which do not distraction from there appearance. The metal flaps? do have a light twist which will come out when nailed in place. The pictures should show the rest. Plenty of lighting was used to show as much detail as possible. Antique Soldered Tin Folk Art Cupola Architectural Roof Ornament Flame Finial
This auction is for another great example of the 19th century tin nockers art. This Cupola is made from soldered galvinized tin and sports a really nice flame finial on top. The dimensions are 15-1/4" square and 20-1/2" tall. It is in very good structural condition with a heavy layer of multiple coats of paint the paint has flaked off in many areas revealing the historic record of previous colors.and the galvanic zinc. This will make a great roof, garden or house ornament. It can be attached directly to a flat roof or a wood base can be simply made to saddle a gable pitched roof. There are some tiny holes(visable in photos) these are from incomplete solder joints when it was made and a few in the flame are from the metal being stretched and work hardened when it was made. they are not rust holes.

1896 Architectural Salvage ZINC Victorian Roof Top Finial turret Cap Corbal
Very interesting piece of Victorian architectural salvage. Circa 1896. I have a photograph that shows this piece as it once was, on the top corner of a building on a Main Street in Michigan. The piece was on top of the building in the corner. Originally there was two of these on the building. The brick building was once in Armada Michigan, on their main street. Years ago, about 40, the building caught on fire, and a friend of mine got this piece in the wreckage. The piece was not damaged by the fire. No signs of smoke or odor. My friend has had the piece in storage all this time. The piece would make a great wall hanging. It is a one of a kind piece, in all my years of buying salvage, this is my only roof piece. The piece is made of zinc and measures: 33 1/2" tall x 12" deep x 17" wide. Has a weight of: 11 pounds. Not the original ... morepaint. It also looks like some adornments on the face are missing. Up for sale is a fantastic Antique Copper Roof Finial on an Octagonal Roof Cap. It was taken off a Victorian home scheduled for demolition several years ago. It sits atop its original. OCTAGONAL tin roof cap! When it was taken off of its original home, the copper ball was removed, polished and lacquered. The tin roof cap has not been refinished. The copper ball is approximately 9" in diameter, while the cap is about 16-1/2" across. The cap is about 12" high. The ball and cupola have dents, scratches, and dings. The top of the copper ball looks to have a hole filled with solder. I'm not sure if the hole was for a lightning rod or some sort of point. The item for bid is a Two-Piece Unmarked Original Antique Architectural Terra Cotta Roof Ridge Line Tile with a Very Realistic& Detailed Hollow Duck Finial that has a square peg on the belly that slips into a pocket on the rounded tile. I do not know the maker of this wonderful piece. But I do believe it dates to the Mid-1800's. The only marking on the piece is the number"39" inscribed into one corner of the tile. The duck has several manufacturing holes. Including two nickel-size holes, one under the tail and one in the middle of the back, along with two small holes in the head, and three small holes in the belly, that allowed heat to escape during the kiln firing process, and to allow rain water to pass thru and drain when mounted on a roof. The mounting pocket also has two manufacturing holes to allow water to drain from ... moreit. The border of the tile has a molded pie-crust decoration around all but one end. Which is smooth, to allow it to fit under the next tile creating a water-tight closure. The duck's web feet and legs. Which are molded into the exterior terra cotta surface of the mounting pocket, are trimmed with random chips of white stone embedded into the terra cotta, as are the eyes. I purchased this several years ago at a local estate auction where it was advertised as having been found in the New England area of the USA. I took it to the Antiques Roadshow in Chattanooga. Tenn. a few years ago and it was appraised at $800- $1,200 at that time. THIS IS A VERY ICONIC PIECE OF FOLK ART THAT WOULD BE THE FOCAL POINT OF ANY PRIMITIVE COLLECTION! It would look smashing as a piece of room decor- I don't think it would be difficult to build a wooden stand for it, perhaps with some distressed painted finish. A set of 2 roof ridge finials made of metal that are marked: Klauer Dubuque with a Pat. date of May 6-19. The ball is apr. 3 1/2 inches in diameter. The straight part that is nailed to the roof is apr. 3 3/4 inches long. The overall length is apr. 6 1/2 inches. There is some light dings which we tried to show in some closeups. A nice set of vintage finials with old paint. The pictures should show the rest. Plenty of lighting was used to show as much detail as possible. This is an original porch roof top finial that was removed from a late 19th century Victorian home. The top is loose and some of the base solder joints have broken(see pictures) But this is a complete all original piece that could easily be repaired. This has the original terracotta painted finish with an aged patina and this is absolutely beautiful and very rare! This is in Great condition with a beautiful old patina and is ready for display. The top is missing and some of the base has broken off. But this is still a very unique piece. This has an aged original white painted patina and finish and these are absolutely beautiful and very rare! These were removed from a residence built in 1855 and was the very first masonry residence ever built in Dekalb county. IL. The home was designed and built in the Renaissance Revival Style.
