Antique Pair 2 of Acorn or Pinecone Brass Bronze Newel Post Cap Finials Germany
This pair is 3 1/2" high. not counting the screw) 2 1/2" across center, 6 3/4" around middle of acorn or pinecone. Screw is 1 1/4" all the way into the cap, about 1" extends beyond edge of cap. Marked Germany on each. They weigh 9.5oz each. Solid brass or bronze, a magnet does not stick, but it does to the screw part. There is some rust on the underside as shown. These would have many uses, great on a newel post, or a broken pediment on a secretary or chest or bed, on the top of bed posts. The possibilities are endless. Lot of 3 Vintage Wood Finials Pineapple or acorn Design
Lot of 3 very old wood finials for old furniture. All three are the same size and design. 4 1/4" tall- 2 1/4" in dia. These are a pineapple or acorn design, with no chips or cracks. Set of 6 HEAVY CAST IRON Vtg/Antique ACORN FINIALS Fence Gate Post Tops Caps 5" Beautiful set of 6 of vintage/antique metal acorn finials. I am not sure of the age but they appear to be quite old. I believe that they are cast iron. They are thick and heavy. About 3 pounds each. The finials are painted black and stand approximately 5" tall. The bases measure 3" x 3 1/4" at the widest point with the interior dimensions being somewhat smaller. There are screw holes at either end of the shorter sides to secure the finials to the top of a post. It looks as if there are screw remnants in these holes and they would probably need to be drilled out if you plan on using them as intended. 3 of the bases have breaks(see pics) There is some wear and flaking to the black paint( you can see other paint colors in some areas) and also ... moresome rust here and there. 2 Antique Wood Architectural Remnant Acorn Finials Square Cut Nails old paint
Up for auction are two antique acorn finial architectural remnants with the original square nails sticking out. Recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. Nice early dry finish, a bit dirty and dusty. There is damage to the acorn cap on one and finial on the other but great distressed remnants none the less. They are 2 1/4" wide by approx 3" tall. Some of the wood has dried and pulled away from the joins leaving hairline cracks at some of the joins, expected of wood this old and exposed but adds to the distressed look. Best of luck in bidding.
