Antique Pair 2 of Acorn or Pinecone Brass Bronze Newel Post Cap Finials Germany
This pair is 3 1/2" high. not counting the screw) 2 1/2" across center, 6 3/4" around middle of acorn or pinecone. Screw is 1 1/4" all the way into the cap, about 1" extends beyond edge of cap. Marked Germany on each. They weigh 9.5oz each. Solid brass or bronze, a magnet does not stick, but it does to the screw part. There is some rust on the underside as shown. These would have many uses, great on a newel post, or a broken pediment on a secretary or chest or bed, on the top of bed posts. The possibilities are endless. Two Antique Oak high relief carved finial for Newel Post or other architectural element. Together the two pieces weigh approximately 15 pounds 6 oz. Both finials Measure 8 ¾" wide x 15" high and both are approximately 27 ½" in circumference. The Top and Base is 3 ½" wide. This pair of high relief carved oak pear shaped finials have a beautifully carved flower and ivy leaf pattern. The original finish appears to be worn off. Due to the nature of wood there are some cracks to which there looks to have been some repairs done. There also may be some areas where by small carved pieces of wood are missing. Vintage Newel Post Finials used for Christmas 5 Five Total. Pomegranate. Pineapple or something else. Gold Green Purple. 5 Newel Post Finials. 3 are perfect 2 are modified and one of them is broken but would be an easy fix with Super Glue. These came from a very nice home with 5 Newels on the staircase. At Christmas time the owner would remove the simple walnut Finials and replace them with these colorful finials. Three simply screwed in while two had larger holes to fill thus the modifications. One of these were broken as you can see in the photos. Vintage Newel Post Finials 4 Four Total Oak Hand Made Appalachian Mountains. Physically these finials seem to be in great shape however they would benefit with some sandpaper and a touch of paint. These came from an Estate sale we attended some time back. I have left these as found in order to show the original paint colors. Looking at the wood that is exposed where the paint is missing you can tell that these were turned out of Oak. I am thinking that they may have been made by a local craftsman of the day but have nothing to back that up. The wood part of the finial is just a tad over 5" tall and the diameter is right at 2 3/4" The metal screw sticks out 1/2" below the wood base. A nice pair of antique Victorian era newel Post Finials. The Finials are made of wood. The beehive design is oak and the other is Mahogany. The Oak finial measures 5 1/2" high x 4 5/8" in diameter across the flat bottom. The Mahogany Finial is 5" high x 4 1/2" across the bottom excluding the mounting peg. Both are in good overall condition and retain the original finish. The only thing to note is normal wear including small nicks on the Beehive design and a dent in the other finial, see photos.
