There ... moreare NO defects in the form. all the contours are smooth and undamaged.no chips or gouges. There are at least two places that are problematic. There is one line on the base that appears to be an original wood growth line. The other is a connected line on the top that outlines a large(2 inch chip) I think that the chip was reglued at the wood shop prior to staining because the line is stained and not a different color than the rest of the piece. it is round on the edges and looks like is was sanded prior to staining. it is very faint. However you will have to be the judge. I think this is a very nice piece(after touch up re-staining) and I will be happy to take it back. No questions asked.

If you want them like new the pieces need to be maybe lightly sanded before you refinished/paint them as they do have some very minor scratchs and such. None of these will have any chips. This piece fits on top of an old wood/parlor stove and is both decorative and useful in that it helps to radiate the heat into the room. If you don't have an old parlor stove to put this fine piece on, you can always get creative in the garden or another place in your house! Vintage Turned Wood Finial with Gadrooning
Here is a charming. Vintage wood finial- with gadrooning on underside of widest, middle section. Wood post for attaching. Total height is approx. 5 1/2" diameter of post is 5/16" Condition is close to excellent- just a'gouge' out of flat middle(see photo 4) and a similar one on the gadroon directly underneath. Still stunning!

Vintage old brass wreath finial with a wood screw, pediment, embellishment
Offered for auction is this well constructed old brass finial or decorative piece. It is a brass wreath of leaves secured by a ribbon design with shiny brass highlights against a dulled brass. At the base is a wood screw to screw this into a piece of wood. I am not sure what this was originally from as it was an estate piece with no explanation. The back is flat. The wood screw could be replaced with a machined metal screw if you wanted to use this as a lamp finial. The inner diameter is 2 7/8” The outer diameter is 4 1/2. The total height with the screw is 5 1/2. Important Information I am in the process of selling objects which I have collected over many years of attending estate auctions.
