Antique COPPER ROOFTOP FINIAL BASE, Victorian Ornamention APOLLO
I'm not really sure if I've identified this correctly. But I believe that it's a base to an architectural finial. Its expertly handcrafted of heavy gauge copper. And shows great attention to detail. Note etched pattern around the middle and rolled edge at the top. The base is bonded to cast iron which shows the word"Apollo" and the# 14. The piece measures 4" high x 5-5/16" wide at the base. The opening at the top measures 2-3/4" across. There is also a single mounting hole on one side of the base that measures 5/16" wide. Weight of this piece is a little over 1 pound.

Antique HUGE Carved Old Paint 1/2 ROUND VICTORIAN Architectural FINIAL Pediment ANTIQUE ARCHITECTURAL FINIAL DECORATION Wonderful antique large solid wood Victorian 1/2 round finial decoration measuring approximately 11" wide and 6" tall. Featuring an orb shape made from building layers of carved wood into a round form. It bears the original old weathered gray paint. Once a complete pediment ball, probably mounted to a stand or base, it retains part of the original wooden peg threaded through the back opening which would have held the two pieces together. Condition is good with lots of paint wear. Rubbing and loss as shown- stable age related wood shrinkage cracks, and general shabbiness from age- love it! I've always used this as a piece of architectural art- it makes an interesting statement standing alone on a table top or ... moregrouped with other unusual shapes. This attic fresh discovery features 9 mid to late 1800s hand turned solid walnut Victorian architectural finials. Most likely intended for window treatments or portiere rods. Each finial is slightly different(hand turned) and retains its original French polish surface with dirt and scratches with minor chips. There are 3 pair, each measuring 6-6 1/8” tall x 3 ½” maximum diameter with 2 ½ base diameter. 1896 Architectural Salvage ZINC Victorian Roof Top Finial turret Cap Corbal
Very interesting piece of Victorian architectural salvage. Circa 1896. I have a photograph that shows this piece as it once was, on the top corner of a building on a Main Street in Michigan. The piece was on top of the building in the corner. Originally there was two of these on the building. The brick building was once in Armada Michigan, on their main street. Years ago, about 40, the building caught on fire, and a friend of mine got this piece in the wreckage. The piece was not damaged by the fire. No signs of smoke or odor. My friend has had the piece in storage all this time. The piece would make a great wall hanging. It is a one of a kind piece, in all my years of buying salvage, this is my only roof piece. The piece is made of zinc and measures: 33 1/2" tall x 12" deep x 17" wide. Has a weight of: 11 pounds. Not the original ... morepaint. It also looks like some adornments on the face are missing. Offered without reserve is a fancy old brass finial that I suspect once adorned a clock. It stands approx. 4" tall and it is about 2 1/2" wide. It feels like a hollow piece and it is rather light in weight. It has fancy look, the bulbous section is encircled with a fancy ring or band. The center finial point terminated into a wood screw at the bottom so it would be easy to mount this to any wood surface. As you can see in the pictures the bulb section has some small denting. This finial would make a unique addition to any decorative finial grouping. It is 8.5" x 4.5" This item came from a furniture and design company that went out of business in the 1990's. Some pieces were removed from furniture that was in disrepair other pieces were left over stock from architectural design projects.
