Presented for your consideration is a second exceptional nineteenth century green opaline glass newel post finial or"boule d'escalier" I believe it is French but Boston& Sandwich might be another possibility-any info appreciated. This piece has a melon rib shape and the glass has beautiful transluscence. The finial has the original bronze fitting with fine patina. This piece measures 7" high. About 3" across at the widest point and 1 1/16" at the base. It is in very good estate condition. The only flaw I find is expected light wear on the bronze-not at all excessive but see enlarged photo to evaluate. This antique opaline glass newel post finial should be a real treasure for a collection and the perfect accent for your period home. It is offered without reserve. Featuring an orb shape made from building layers of carved wood into a round form. It bears the original old weathered gray paint. Once a complete pediment ball, probably mounted to a stand or base, it retains part of the original wooden peg threaded through the back opening which would have held the two pieces together. Condition is good with lots of paint wear. Rubbing and loss as shown- stable age related wood shrinkage cracks, and general shabbiness from age- love it! Great looking eagle in excellent condition. Has screwhole on bottom for mounting. Eagle strikes a great landing position pose. Very smooth and well made topper. A set of 2 vintage roof ridge finials made of metal. The ball is apr. 3 1/2 inches in diameter. The overall length is apr. 6 1/4 inches. The metal does have some discoloration from being exposed to the elements. The balls do have some very light dings which do not distraction from there appearance. The metal flaps? do have a light twist which will come out when nailed in place. The pictures should show the rest. Plenty of lighting was used to show as much detail as possible. Solid Walnut ball. Newel post finial unfinished. I will make however many that are ordered. This ball finial is approx. 7" in diameter. The fourth picture is a 7 inch cherry, 5 3/8 inch walnut and a 4 inch oak ball. It has a small flat bottom. You can buy it smooth or with rings. You can buy it in walnut, oak, maple, cherry or mahogany. Mahogany will cost $15.00 more and cherry will cost $5.25 more. Antique Art Deco Flame Torch Architectural Fireplace Fence Finial 8" 3 1/2 lbs
Beautiful. 8" antique flame or torch architectural, fireplace or fence finial with a hollow 2 1/2" square base. I'm fairly certain that it is made of brass, which would lead one to believe it has to do with a fireplace. As you see it has a beautiful patina and where it is worn on the edges you can see the brass color coming through. This would make a beautiful, unique decorative piece. The weight is 3 1/2 lbs. To me it has an Art Deco style, though it may be much older as it came from a country estate and had been stored away in an old farmhouse for many years. ~~~ Antique ~ Rare ~ Lucite Lamp Finial ~~~* I have never come across another Lucite finial. This piece is for lamps. It is in good antique condition with out hair line cracks. It does have an ever so slight lean depending which angle you look at it. Turn it to the best angle on harp. It has a lovely shape with little bows and ribbon lines. It could be touched up with gold paint or left original. Piece stands 2 7/8" in height. This piece at its widest point is 1" in width. On the upper body. This is a unique piece. Piece weighs less then one oz. Will ship first class well protected at 2 ozs.
