Large Vintage Heavy World Sphere Finial
Vintage finial- unknown provenance. Its original use is also unknown but the bottom opening is standard threaded 1/4 IPS. The opposite opening seen in the photographs is not threaded. The patina is soft golden in color. No matter where this marvelous finial is used or simply as a decorative object. It is a standout. The piece weighs about one pound. Its height is 8 inches; at its widest it is about 6 1/2 inches; and the sphere's diameter is approximately 3 1/4 inches. Measures 1 3/4" diameter and about 2 1/4" tall, hollow interiors but very solid brass, threaded base, small dents on all but three, one base is bent. Next are three similar ball finials with the same dimensions, the brass on each is scratched and they are slightly lighter. Next is a pair of hollow lighter brass finials with exposed screws, they look like planets, no dents, measures 1 1/2" in diameter and tall. Large Antique Wood Furniture Finial. Pineapple Up for your consideration is this nice unusual antique wood furniture or architectural finial. Measuring about 6 1/4" tall. It is a rather pretty piece with a ball top to a bulbous center with carved leaf design coming off the bottom to the midsection, it has a peg dowel at the base, it has a flat section on the back at the center and at the base, I think the wood is walnut but cannot be certain. Nice piece with a primitive pineapple look.the peg has a diameter of about 3/8" the base is about 2" in diameter excluding the flat area, the flat area on the back is 2 1/2" tall and about 1 3/4" wide, the ball on the top is about 1 1/4" in diameter. Up for sale is a fantastic Antique Copper Roof Finial on an Octagonal Roof Cap. It was taken off a Victorian home scheduled for demolition several years ago. It sits atop its original. OCTAGONAL tin roof cap! When it was taken off of its original home, the copper ball was removed, polished and lacquered. The tin roof cap has not been refinished. The copper ball is approximately 9" in diameter, while the cap is about 16-1/2" across. The cap is about 12" high. The ball and cupola have dents, scratches, and dings. The top of the copper ball looks to have a hole filled with solder. I'm not sure if the hole was for a lightning rod or some sort of point. This item would make a wonderful addition to your copper collection, or even used outdoors in your yard.
