I am not ... moresure of the age but they appear to be quite old. I believe that they are cast iron. They are thick and heavy. About 3 pounds each. The finials are painted black and stand approximately 5" tall. The bases measure 3" x 3 1/4" at the widest point with the interior dimensions being somewhat smaller. There are screw holes at either end of the shorter sides to secure the finials to the top of a post. It looks as if there are screw remnants in these holes and they would probably need to be drilled out if you plan on using them as intended. 3 of the bases have breaks(see pics) There is some wear and flaking to the black paint( you can see other paint colors in some areas) and also some rust here and there. Overall great set with lots of character. Very nice for outdoor use or indoor display. Please be sure to super-size photos to better view details and accurately judge condition. Last pole standing on the last tuna cannery in San Diego was topped by this awesome orb 8" in diameter with a threaded copper stem. Which could hold an eagle, wings spread coming in for a perch, they are out there! Looks mighty fine the way it came off the flagpole especially with the great verdigris patina! It will add beaucoup class to any flagpole you might be using and will mount easily with the threaded stem. Some writing on the stem and fitting but I can't make it out. This great old finial has a few blemishes but is still a handsome decorative piece. It would make a wonderful addition to any decorative finial grouping. It is 7-1/2" tall and the base is 3-3/4" This item came from a furniture and design company that went out of business in the 1990's. Some pieces were removed from furniture that was in disrepair other pieces were left over stock from architectural design projects.

There are no chips, cracks, seperation, broken parts, etc. The finials had been used at one time because clear wood glue residue can be seen on the undersides. Heavy Brass Eagle Flag Topper Finial for Flag Pole - Old Design 7 inch height
Old School design of Heavy Brass Golden Eagle. Comes with original screw. Salvaged from an stage backdrop at high end theater. Very heavy brass with almost no cast lines that are easily seen. Possibly molded from one piece. The indented bottom portion of the eagle is exactly 2" The depth of sticking a pole into the hole for mounting is 2" as well. From just above the ring before the eagles foot pedestal is exactly 5 inches. The wingspan is 4.5 inch at its largest and the pedestal ring the eagle stands on is 3/4 inch. The more worn portion of the base under the eagles feet and pedestal is exactly 2 inches. Which is the precise depth a pole can hold the finial. The size(diameter) of the hole is 7/8 inch wide.
