This is in the shape of what looks to be an acorn. At first glance I thought it was a pineapple shape, but the bottom looks as if it is the cap on an acorn. It stands approximately 8" tall and the opening on the bottom is approximately 2- 3/8" by 3- 1/8" This is a heavy old piece and most likely should be shipped via USPS Priority Mail in a flat rate box. This looks as if it was painted gray at one time. This has been in my collection for many years but now it is time to downsize. Which fits the standard residential 1 7/8" end post(they also made a larger 25 B and an even larger 25 A size) They measure about 4 1/2" tall. I believe this is either aluminum or some type of alloy, as a magnet does not stick to it. I believe this style of cap was used in the 1940's and 1950's. Sold showing age, wear, weathering, paint loss, and tarnishing. bird is a solid metal construction of maybe a cast iron, comes with a threaded screw bottom and a 3/4 inch screw. bird stands approx. 3 inches tall at center of back, approx. 6 3/8 inches long from beak to tail tip, center body approx. 1 3/4 inches wide.

Vintage Large Cast Iron Fence Post Lightning Rod Finial Threaded Brass Plug NOS
Unusual cast iron post finial or? Vintage Mid-Century NOS item found in my late 97 year old uncles shop. Rocket shaped solid cast iron. 10 1/4" long x 2 1/4" at the widest point. It is 2/3 hollow, has a threaded shaft with a slotted brass plug that I think has 1" threads. If you know what this is, or what other purpose it served, I'd appreciate any info.

This listing is for one vintage solid brass spear shaped finial/topper. I'm not sure what this came off of. Could have been a fence post or flag pole topper. It does not have a threaded opening. Just slips on and has a hole to pin it in place. Measures 7" tall. Opening is 3/4" OD. It does show age and use wear. Scuffs. Scratches, tarnishing.
