There are no date stamps on these items and I do not know their age. These Candlesticks are in GOOD condition. The push-ups work. But one candlestick is missing the knob. Antique Figural European Oil Burners - 3 PC. Set
This is a beautiful 3 piece Oil Burner Set. It is an antique and it sits on a black onyx base. There is a small piece broken off on the very bottom of the center piece underneath the shell. I cannot read the maker's mark. All I can make out is LEON?R?S. This set is very heavy and that is why the shipping is so much. The height is 23" on the center piece and 22" on the side pieces. The depth of the base is about 8 inches. Each of the side pieces weigh 10 lbs each and the center piece weighs 30 lbs. Dependable service. Professional packing and great prices. Offered is a very rare pair of 19th century glass candleabras. No makers mark. Historically attributed to Baccarat. 17 inches tall. Original bobeches and candle sockets. As well as center peg. One candeabra has a different style of socket as you can see in the photos. There are threaded glass sockets on the base of one stick. There are no threaded glass sockets on the other. There are 6 missing prisms on one. The other has all its prisms. The prisms are the spearhead style. Some normal small dings on the prisms. One center glass socket is chipped on the underside. Normal straw marks. Air bubbles and wear ... moreunder the base. These are extremely heavy with each candleabra weighing over 6 pounds. Set Of 4 Antique Glass Candlesticks
Here we have 4 handmade glass candlesticks of undetermined age. These candlesticks all have varying air bubbles. Marks, and mold impressions due to their individual castings. Someone took a great amount of time to make these. I have never seen anything like them. They are really quite beautiful and bring back memories of what glass used to look like before modern machines made these items. Just look at how the sunlight plays off the glass. There are no cracks. Chips, or damage of any kind on these candlesticks. Each candlestick measures 8 3/4" high. The base is 3 1/2" in diameter. Each candlestick weighs approximately 1 lb. 4 oz. Tall Antique Vintage Clear Glass Candlestick Girondole with Prisms
Selling is a large antique glass girondole candlestick. The candlestick measures 18 1/2" tall and the base measures 5 1/4" square. The candlestick features a square glass platform that 12 prisms can hang from. The prisms included have a 1" square prism and from it hangs a long beveled glass prism measuring 5 3/4" This candlestick comes with 11 of the squares. It also has 7 of the long prisms that do have a few small nicks. There are 3 long prisms that have more damage. The candlestick can be used without the square platform or with different prisms. Rare Blown Gold Mercury Baluster Candlesticks - Feather Light - 1800s
Rare 19 th Century Pair of Mercury Baluster Candlesticks Here is a rare color and excellent example of blown mercury glass candle holders from the 19 th century. They are hollow and light as a feather. Each candle stick is alike but not identical to the other in shape and height. One is a quarter inch shorter than the other. Their bases are not perfectly round. Both are a rare golden yellow. Mercury glass is a light bodied double walled glass that was silvered by applying a solution of nitrate to the inside of the candle through a hole in the base. Patented by F. Hale Thomas in 1849. The New England Glass Company filed their patent for the same procedure five years later. Mercury glass reached the apex of its popularity in the early 1900s. This is a pretty rare pair of pressed petal candlesticks featured in Joan Kaiser's book on South Boston glass houses and their attributed items. This pair is a wonderful pale violet that look great on display. I haven't come across another set of these other than in the book. They stand 7 1/2" inches and are in great shape with minor chipping to the underside of the rims. You have to really be looking. If anyone who recognizes this and knows the maker would care to share the information I would enjoy hearing from you. The quality of the glass and cut decoration is top end. It measures roughly 8" tall x 4 1/4" wide. The condition is excellent. The elegant Tiffin Glass Company manufactured this lovely set of pink glass candlesticks between 1926-1931 in their"Juno" pattern. This is a rarely seen pattern. Especially in pink. These candlesticks are referenced in the book Tiffin Depression Era Stems& Tableware by Goshe. Hemminger& Pina. The etch consists of a poppy with foliage repeating 3 times around the base. Three S shaped posts. Open in the center, hold the candle cup above the stem. The candlesticks are in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or fleabites. Some ends are cracked.see cork end piece in photos) There is some discoloration in pieces.flame tips show some paint loss. Martha Stewart's website says: Mercury glass is still relatively inexpensive. A vase in perfect condition might cost between $80 and $100; painted pieces can sell for $200 or more; colored. Engraved, cut, and labeled pieces can fetch more than $1,000. Exposure to air causes oxidation of the silvered inner surface and makes it flake off. To keep air from entering through the hole in a piece's bottom(where the silver-coating process begins) the original manufacturers developed several sealing methods, among them a cork covered with a wax plug, and a lead plug sealed beneath a disc of glass. Still, corks dry up and ... morewax falls out, so some believe that more than half of the mercury glass available today is damaged. And serious collectors want their glass perfect(unless it is in some rare form) Some buyers, however, actually prefer pieces with a crumbly, deteriorating coating. Between the A-one and the"as is, there's plenty of glass for everyone. As for care. John W. Keefe, curator of the large silvered-glass collection at the New Orleans Museum of Art, offers two important suggestions. First, he warns, don't remove any painted decorations. His second suggestion is a nice surprise: If your antique silvered glass has lost its seal and has begun to deteriorate, you can arrest the process by shaving a wine cork to fit the opening and corking it, or by covering the hole with a plug of malleable wax and allowing it to harden. Camphor Glass Covered Bowl With Lions
Interesting Old Covered Camphor Glass Bowl with a Lion Finial and Three Lions On Base. The mouth of the bowl is about 6 inches in diameter. The height of the bowl is about 3 3/4. With the cover it is about 8 inches tall. The cover has a rope edge and a recumbent lion with is head high. The lion and the flat top of the cover are camphor glass. The rest of the cover is clear. Couple of minor chips to the edge of where the camphor meets the clear glass, too small to photograph. The Bowl is in good condition with a couple of minor chips to the clear part on the underside of the bowl at the seam. The camphor part of the base has 3 seams. While the clear has none. The cover has one seam to the camphor but none to the clear part. It has several bubbles. Appears to be 19th century Camphor Glass. Thick green glass top is and inverse fluted bell shape, with a raised painted design in cream, very light pink, and gold paint. The charming scene is a wreath of leaves with squirrels and winged angels or cherubs. Each squirrel is different as is each cherub, this was clearly entirely hand painted, free hand artistry. The large glass shade is open at the top, and I place a battery operated candle in it with a timer, so it turns off and on automatically. It could certainly be wired for use as a lamp. The light coming through the green glass is truly beautiful. It is a tall and heavy piece at almost 2 feet. The top is attached to the brass base which resembles an architectural column with ancient capital on top. There is a little bit of play here at the union of top and bottom, but is secure.
