It measures about 4 1/2" tall and about 5 1/2" long. A large section of the socket area has been broken out and glued back into place. It is overall very neatly done. There is a small amount of whitish residue at edges of repair in a few places. On the inside of the"hole" there is a narrow sliver of glass missing along the repair edge. There is a second line or crack on the inner part of the socket other than the repair. Visible in next to last photo. Not perfect but still a great candlestick. Displays very well. NO RESERVE. Gorgeous Antique Milk Glass Dolphin and Flower Candlesticks
15.00 Here is a wonderful pair of antique or vintage dolphin candlesticks. The pair are nicely detailed with molded scales and fins and detailed faces. The dolphins sit atop a double square pedestal base. With a lovely scalloped taper holder perched on the curve of the tail. The pair appear near perfect, save for a very small area of roughness to the top of the back fin on of one dolphin, which is likely a tiny chip. From our personal candlestick collection we are offering this 1890's McKee Glass Co. Pyramid' milk glass candlestick holder. This stick is pictured in a reprinted ad on page 130 of the Archer's 1983 edition of"The Encyclopedia of Glass Candlesticks" where it is called"Manhattan" It has also been pictured in Belknap's'Milk Glass' and Millard's'Opaque Glass' The milk glass has a slight translucent quality and is less opaque than what we see in milk glass produced today. Height is 6.5" tall; base width is 3" Condition is excellent with some mold roughness on all edges which is often found in early glassware that was not fire polished. There are no cracks. Unusual Four Part Mold 4 3/8" diameter ground bottom base has shell and scroll motif. Ca. 19thc. ~ Maker unknown to me. But has the look and feel of new england region glass in my opinion. The glass is heavy flint glass. The tops of these candlesticks may have supported peg type oil lamp fonts. That might explain why they broke. Sold per the photgraphs. For your consideration is this Pair of Vintage Milk Glass Classic Candlesticks. 6 1/2" Description: This is a pair of milk glass candlesticks. These candlesticks measure approximately 6 1/2" tall. 3 1/2" wide, and 3 1/2" deep. they have a layered-style base with a column style portion that leads to the setting for the candle. This opening measures approximately 7/8" in diameter. Condition: There appears to have been a gold trim on these candlesticks at one point. But this has mostly worn off. One of the candlesticks has more of the gold trim remaining, but it is largely gone. There is a small chip on the bottom corner of one of the bases. The milk glass has a nice color. This pair of tall. Heavy milk glass candleholders was made by Portieux Vallerystahl(PV) in France. They're uncommon and, when seen, are usually blue. These are white and carry no maker's mark. Raised designs cover most of the surface and the figure on the main part of the stem is, I'm told, a mythical sea creature. A chimere in French and a chimera in English. The pieces are 8” tall. 2 1/2” in diameter across the top, 4 1/2” in diameter across the base. There are no chips, cracks or other violations of the glass. On the side of one, though, is a dark spot that I have been unable to remove. I don't know what it is, but I've included a detail photo of it(last photo in the series here) Items are very carefully packed and shipped within 1 day of payment.
