One has a fish date mark for 1912 and the other has a spoon date mark for 1920. Perhaps they were bought together in 1920 although one was dated earlier. The monograms are exactly the same. So I am confident that they started out life together. The sticks measure just shy of 6.5" and the bases are 3.5" square. Excellent condition.

Categories. Welcome. Sterling Silver Corinthian Column Candlesticks- Antique Victorian. A fine and impressive pair of antique Victorian English sterling silver Corinthian column candlesticks; part of the ornamental silverware collection at AC Silver. Description. These fine antique English sterling silver candlesticks have a subtly tapering columnar form. The impressive Corinthian capital of each candlestick is embellished with a bead decorated upper border and flower medallions to each corner. Interconnected via drape swags, and accented with drape style pendants. Each capital retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce also ornamented with a bead decorated border. The upper portion of each column is decorated with tied ribbon and husk swag designs. Which incorporate the vertical bands of husk decoration which extend the full ... morelength of the column, to the circular colet foot. The candlesticks have square swept bases embellished with embossed husk decoration at each junction in addition to a bead decorated border. The four sides of each base display a central embossed ribbon. Husk and flower medallion motif. Both candlesticks have weighted bases as expected and are fitted with green baize to the underside. Condition These antique sterling silver candlesticks are a very good gauge of silver. Fine quality and in excellent presentation condition. There are minor dings to one column. And the bases, but these are in keeping with age and certainly do not detract from the aesthetic appearance of this fine pair of candlesticks. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each candlestick and the sleeve of each sconce are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these fine examples of Victorian silverware. Dimensions Height 23.7cm/ 9.2" Base 10.7cm/ 4.2" square. IMPRESSIVE SILVER CORINTHIAN COLUMN CANDLESTICKS, SHEFFIELD 1903
A handsome pair of solid silver candlesticks made by Silversmiths Richard Martin and Ebeneezer Hall and assayed at Sheffield in 1903. They stand 10 1/2" tall(27cm) and weigh a robust 1.64 kilogrammes(nb. loaded-not all silver) giving them a substantial and impressive presence. The candlesticks are of corinthian pattern. They have straight octagonal stems standing on a square raised pediment with beaded edges.The bases are neatly felted. The sconces are of particular note being richly embossed with foliate decoration and have an attractive beaded edging. The pair stand straight and true- no wobbling or leaning. The sconces are firm and level and there is little sign of active use. There are some minor imperfections. Both bases have a number of very small dents. The stems are largely undamanged apart from one very small knock. The sconces ... moreare in crisp undamaged condition. There is none of the pin holes. Splitting, creasing or distortion of silver often found on antique candlesticks. Overall the appearence is very smart and impressive and they are ready for display or use. The hallmarks are clear on both candlesticks for Sheffield. 1903. The maker's mark is clear- RM' above'EH' Martin, Hall&Co were prolific siversmiths during the Edwardian period and their work is well regarded. There are no crests or engraving. Description Welcome to my Auction. For a superb pair of sterling solid silver Corinthian column candlesticks. Dated 1915. Both of the candlesticks& both drip- pans are fully hallmarked- GNRH" George Nathan& Ridley Hayes) Anchor(Birmingham) Lion and date letter"q" for 1915. The makers mark is quite rubbed. The drip pans are hallmarked with the"Lion" denoting sterling silver) the date letter"q" Each candlestick have loaded square stepped& beaded bases to fluted circular columns decorated with foliage to the top& scrolls at each corner. Both candlesticks have removable square shaped& beaded sconce or drip pans. Absolutely stunning. Weighing approx- A combined weight of 820 grams. Individually approx 410 grams. Measuring approx- 17.3 cms or a tad under 7 inches in height. The silver is in ... morelovely condition having had no repairs. There are a few minor dings to the base edges& corners but absolutely nothing that detracts. The bases are covered by a green felt which in places doesn't quite meet the edge. Again. Pair of Edwardian Sterling Silver Octagonal Column Shape Candlesticks from Sheffield dated 1907 Each Candlestick measures approximately 3 inches or 7 6 mm across the width and length of its square base from side to side by just under 2 inches or 5 0 mm across the width and length of the square upper rim or sconce from side to side. Each recessed candle holder is just over 3/4 of an inch or 20 mm across its width or diameter from side to side by 7/8 inches or 2 1 mm deep and both candlesticks stand 5 1/2 inches or 14 0 mm tall to the top of their sconce rims. Both candlesticks are made from sterling silver with square raised relief step decorated bases that have octagonal column shaped upper bodies and they have shaped tops or candle sconces. The bases of both candlesticks have been filled or weighted for stability and they have green felt ... moreor baize linings on their undersides to stop the candlesticks from scratching the surface that they are placed upon, the candlesticks have a combined weight of 418.7 grams and they have Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below. They are in the Corinthian Column design and have a beaded edge around the top sconce rim and two step edges of the square bases. They have been re-covered with green baize to the underside of the weighted bases. They are a good sturdy pair of silver plated candlesticks and have clear marks Identifying Marks: They are stamped"H E& Co EP" Hawksworth Eyre& Co) This Company were in existance in the late 1800's early 1900's. So they could be over 100 years old, but I cannot confirm Dimensions: 5 inches tall. The scone rims 2 inchs diameter, with the actual candle hole being just over 0.75 inch in diameter. Pretty pair of Victorian twisted column silver plate candlesticks
Very pretty and unusual pair of twisted column candlesticks with swept bases. This is an unusual style. So much so it has a registration number 19001 in a lozenge mark, see photo, circa 1887. They were made by the quality manufacturer Martin Hall& Co of Sheffield and have detachable sconces. These magnificent antique George III English sterling silver candlesticks have a plain subtly tapering columnar form. The large and impressive Corinthian capital of each candlestick retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce ornamented with a plain moulded rim. The cylindrical columns are supported by a cuboid plinth to an impressive plain square stepped three tier base. The plinth is embellished with a fine and impressive bright cut engraved coat of arms depicting the Head family coat of arms* encircled with a belt accented with the family motto‘Study ... moreQuiet’ The base retains the original contemporary engraved inscription‘A token of respect from Francis Head to her aunt Dame Mary Ann Head. 1803’ to the lowest tier. Lion masks and medallions to the square bases and swags to the acanthus capitals. These loaded candlesticks are in excellent condition with none of the usual condition issues found with this type of item(e.g. holes from wear to the high points and corners) apart from one minor ding to the centre of the base. Pair of Antique Netherlands Silver Candlesticks 1911 The marks on these lovely candlesticks are difficult to show clearly in a photograph as they have been rubbed but they are. From the left'V.K. the makers mark of J M van Kempen from Voorschoten; a lion on three legs indicating silver of 0.833 fineness. Next is the head figure for the assay office and finally the date letter'B' for 1911. A good picture sample of these marks can be seen in example B at this website The candlesticks are about 5.25 inches(13.5 cm) high and about 3 inches( 7.5 cm) diameter at the base.The condition is generally very good with no dents or major scratches apart from around the base where there is some damage probably caused before the green cloth was applied to the base. They are antique and date to about 1770-1820's. These candlesticks feature elongated. Fluted column shafts rising up to a Corinthian style cap. These candlesticks were made by Thomas Bradbury& Sons and date to 1908. The candlesticks have a classical column form. With a beaded border around the top and base. The bobeches or wax drips are removable for ease of cleaning. Each piece is hallmarked on the side of the base with the lion passant for sterling silver. The leopard's head for the city of London, the date letter n for 1908, and the maker's mark for Thomas Bradbury& Sons. These hallmarks are repeated on the sides of the wax drips as well. Godinger 81/2 " silver plated column candlesticks
These were a gift and were never used but need to be polished from being handled. They are very nice column style with intricate designs. They are Paul Revere silversmiths. Museum Re-Creations" of antiques by Godinger. That's what it says on the box. There are no heavy tarnished places that would cause damage to the finish. These antique Edwardian sterling silver piano candlesticks have plain cuboid columns onto a square swept base. The broad columns of these impressive candlesticks are plain and unembellished. The plain square stepped capitals retain the original hallmarked detachable sconces. Both candlesticks have weighted bases. As to be expected, and are fitted with green baize to the underside. Flaring out towards the top, which is very nicely shaped. They have a round pedestal base which is cement weighted. The candlesticks both have removable candle wax rings, also in sterling silver. There are no monograms and no monogram removals. Please scroll down to see our photographs. The candlesticks are both marked for sterling silver and have the maker's mark for“Seidman” of New York. A company which was active between 1920 and 1930. This places the candlesticks to within that period. The base of the candlesticks are also marked as being weighted with cement. When you remove the candle wax ring from one of the candlesticks there are two tiny dents to the top of the candlestick. The Candlesticks are done in a fabulous Corinthian Column form featuring excellent details throughout. Including Figural Ram's Heads and fine repousse designs, honestly much better than the photos show and I am certain the new owner will be very happy indeed. The candlesticks are fully Hallmarked for the fine Period Silversmiths Jenkins& Timm, Sterling Silver, Sheffield, and the date letter"c" for 1895. The Sticks are Richly Gold Gilded with some signs of wear for that nice Antique look and the sticks themselves have no damage, dents, cracks or repairs. The sticks are a very nice size for display and practical for use measuring approx 7" tall, by 3-3/4" across the bases and accept a candle 1/2 an inch across, a fairly standard size candle. The candlesticks feature weighted bases, so there is no chance of them tipping over easily, even if you use tall tapers for a very dramatic look. The candles have a combined weight of 1451 grams, but this of course does include the weighted bases.
