They date from between 1840 and 1864. They were my Great Great Grandmother’s. Passed down through the family to me. I only part with them because no one else wanted them and I do not like them. I had an expert on New England glassware look at them and they are confirmed original Boston& Sandwich candlesticks. This pair of candlesticks is very early, proved by a few dark imperfections(tiny chunks of leftover glass from the mold that made their way into the candlestick glass) the many straw marks and striations throughout the candlestick along with bubbles throughout. This particular design of Boston& Sandwich Glass Co. candlesticks has become extremely scarce as most have been lost to breakage and mishandling over time. A pair recently sold at auction for $550! They measures about 8 7/8" tall. About 3 5/8" across at the base and about 2 7/16" diameter at the top. They are in excellent condition overall. Both sticks have some chipping on the interior sharp edges inside the bases. There are no other chips or cracks. This is a wonderful Pair of Circa 1828-1835 Boston& Sandwich Glass Company Pressed Lacy Socket Flint Glass Candlesticks. They both stand approximately 7" tall to the tops of the Number 1 sockets with a 3-5/8" square base. The pair is in absolutely beautiful estate condition with only light. Normal, base flakes and edge chips. Each candlestick features a Number 1 beaded socket with plain rim, raised on a tri-part knop, circular six-step standard and square base with rounded corners and prism interior, wafer construction. One underside base is production ground and remains less than 1/8" taller than the mate. As shown in the photo. The Number 1 socket of one stick shows very subtle production misshaping of the edge with a very subtle trace of what may have been a tiny air bubble roughness on the edge. This should go unmentioned ... morebut is offered for accuracy. RARE Boston & Sandwich Vaseline Flint Glass Petal Socket Candlesticks ca 1800’s
Beautiful canary pressed flint glass(aka vaseline flint glass) candlesticks from Boston and Sandwich. With a petal socket, two-stepped square base, and fluted column. Made in two pieces and wafer-joined, like all Sandwich candlesticks. The candlesticks are 9 inches tall x 3 ¾ inches wide. Shipping weight about 5 lbs Condition: Very good. Minor chips on the underside of the base(really not visible) The usual bubbles and cooling striations of early pressed glass production. Please view the detail photos. Please e-mail any questions. Boston Sandwich Clambroth & Blue flint glass Columnar Candlesticks [c.1840s]
Early. Flint glass, Boston& Sandwich Columnar candlesticks. Blue bases connected by the"iconic sandwich wafer" to clambroth colored tops. Sandy finish so often encountered in early sandwich glass. Sticks are near perfect. Stick 1(darker base) only has one slight under petal roughness. Stick two only has one small corner chip that blends in well due to sandy, darker color base(see photo#2) No other problems! Under bases"appear" to have bruises but they are NOT, only discolorations from age& manufacture. Candle cups perfect. Very nice condition for 165-yr-old glass candlesticks.
