Please scroll down the page to see additional photographs of this item. 2 QUALITY ANTIQUE CUT GLASS CANDLESTICKS ANGLO- IRISH Presented is a great pair of antique cut crystal or glass candlesticks. The candlesticks are almost certainly Anglo-Irish in origin. They date to the 1800s. But they could be as early as the 1700s. We believe they date from the first half of the 1800s. They are certainly old. The stem has a large, tear-shaped globe at the lower end with a large tear-drop shaped control bubble blown in its center. The glass is nicely cut with various geometric designs. The candlesticks have good weight. The candlesticks are not marked. As should be expected. The candlesticks are in excellent condition. The glass has a bit of wear on the underside. Just as you would expect on pieces of this age. Both candlesticks have a few minor flakes ... moreand fleabites here and there, almost entirely along the bottom edge where the candlesticks would meet the table, but these minor flaws are not very noticeable. Otherwise, the condition is excellent. There are no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. The candlesticks measure 4 1/2 inches in diameter at the base and 9 3/4 inches tall. 12.75" Antique Mercury Glass Candlestick
The largest piece of Mercury Glass I've had was 14" this one is a close second at 12.75" The base is 5.5" across. And the top is 3.25" in diameter. It appears to be a Bohemian piece, but the"forest" motif appears to be painted on in what was originally white, as opposed to the fine white granulate you see on other pieces. The silvering is more muted and less bright than you see on some pieces as well- this has more of an aged patina. This is the kind of thing I tend to see in shelter magazines- most people seem to like the obviously hazy and old look. There is no closure on the opening on the underside. In spite of this, there aren't any areas missing their silvering- even the base and the underside are solid. If you have any questions regarding the piece and its condition, please email us. This is a very nice pair of antique Boston& Sandwich Glass Company canary vaseline glass petal and loop candlesticks or candle holders. They stand 6" tall with a 4 1/4" base diameter. The candle opening is 1" in diameter. They were mold-blown. They are in good condition. Though there are some issues. The brighter one has some chips around the base and a small crack at the mouth. The duller one has an obvious crack in the mouth that goes all the way through around the neck. It does seem stable. It also has some chips around the base. Please see photos for details. I am happy to provide more photos upon request. The tops appear to have been cut down. These are quite old. Dating between 1825 and 1860. Please contact me with any questions. Size(Approx. 3 ½” square base x 7” tall. The top is 1 ¾” square with a 1” round opening. Manufacturer: Unknown. Antique grass green opaline glass candlestick
The last picture shows the truest color. In great condition. No chips or cracks. On the top it is has two groves opposite each other, maybe part of the old mold marks, not sure. Measures 6.75" tall. Glass that contains manganese, when exposed to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, causes the glass to turn amethyst. Some of my amethyst bottles and glass are purpled from years of exposure to natural sunlight. Others have been purpled with the use of strong UV lights in a box…and some have been purpled by a process called“irradiation” which is a safe and permanent process which does the same thing as many years of exposure to natural sunlight, except much faster. This is a beautiful pair of antique etched cranberry glass hurricane shades on clear dolphin bases with 8 dangling prisms each. They measure 17" to top of cranberry hurricane. The base is a wonderful clear glass dolphin. There is a problem with one of the cranberry hurricanes: it has a l 1/2" zig zag crack coming from a small chip on base. See Photo. When the chimney is resting in the base the chip and a lot of the crack is covered. Unfortunate. But to be honest I didn't notice this flaw when purchasing at an Estate Sale. Also know as Mercury Glass(or sometimes, Varnish Glass) is double-walled glassware with a silver coating inside the walls, similar to the silvering on a vacuum flask liner. The first patent for silvered glass was taken out in 1849 by Hale Thomson and Edward Varnish in England. Shortly afterwards, in 1855, Thomas Leighton of the New England Glass Company took out a patent in America. The demand for silvered glass led to production in glass-houses in England. Germany, France, Belgium, the USA, and Bohemia, many with their own production processes. In England Edward Varnish and his partners sold silvered glass for only about ten years. They had a major display at the The Great Exhibition in the Crystal ... morePalace in 1851. The main production from about 1860 onwards came from glassworks in the Bohemian forest. Huge quantities of silvered glass left the factories at Iglau and Haida. Where the whole region was geared for its production. In Germany this type of glass was known as Bauernsilber- farmer's silver or peasant silver. In England it was often called poor man's silver. The most common mixtures used to make silvered or mercury glass were solutions of silver nitrate with some form of glucose. At Whitefriars Glassworks in London they made silvered glass for Edward Varnish and Hale Thomson using silver nitrate mixed with grape juice. Each manufacturer had their own recipe. Which was a closely guarded secret. The silvering liquid was poured into the space between the walls of the glass vessel through a hole in the bottom, and it adhered to the glass. 15.00 Here is a wonderful pair of antique or vintage dolphin candlesticks. The pair are nicely detailed with molded scales and fins and detailed faces. The dolphins sit atop a double square pedestal base. With a lovely scalloped taper holder perched on the curve of the tail. The pair appear near perfect, save for a very small area of roughness to the top of the back fin on of one dolphin, which is likely a tiny chip. The Candlestick is part of a large and extensive set up for auction. If you wanted to have a look at my other items. The Candlestick is very finely made throughout and of a great Art Deco design. I was told the Candlestick was made by Moser in the earlier 1900s period and is a very rare find. The Candlestick is unmarked as I believe the earlier examples never were. As you can see the Candlestick has a finely etch decorated band with a nice scrolling design which is identical to that of the Moser Splendid glasses more commonly found in a clear color with gilding. I was unable to find anything like this set mostly being colored. Also leading me to believe it is also rarely seen. Another nice feature of the Candlestick is within the etched splendid design there is also nice multi colored enamel work. The top rim is also gold gilt, and the Candlestick is of top quality throughout. The Candlestick is in excellent all original condition with some wear to the Gold Band but no chips, cracks or repairs. Each fish sits on a round ribbed platform with a square base and curved corners. Each candlestick has a removable bobeche with faceted prisms. I believe this set had removable candelabra arm extensions that held epergne vases. I have pictured them with antique candles to show the beauty of them without the arms. There are wear marks along the outside ridges of the cups from the arms being placed and removed over the years. Recently a single(1) candleholder like these with the arms and in an opaque color sold for $350.00 on ebay. There are four mold seams on each candle holder. Unique Antique ETCHED GLASS CANDLESTICK Flowers Leaves
Up for bid is a lovely old candlestick found in the 1960s in the attic of an elderly lady. The glass is clear and sparkly with a sunburst design in the base and flowers and leaves etched into the stem. They are etched around the edges of the stem to give a three dimensional look to the designs– unique! The candlestick stands 8 ¼” high with a 4” square base and a 2” square top. The candle well is about 1” deep and about 7/8” in diameter. Beautiful old piece. But it was hard for me to photograph it well enough to show its beauty. At the buyer’s request. This is antique Victorian brass candle holder on a marble base 1852 Patent(signed on the back. Meaning it was made on or after 1852, in 19th century) with 7 glass prisms and the figure of John the Baptist holding a cross(could be another saint) it is a very beautiful ornate item. Candle holder has seven glass crystals and brass grapes surrounding the candle base.This is very unique item. On the top of the candle holder there is a glass vase with a candle. Measurements are 15" tall and 6 2/5 x 3 1/2" at the base. Brass is in very good condition, but you can see on the photos that in some places there is patina. There are small chips to the prisms as well as few small chips to the marble base. When you light up the candle, the light through the vase and the prisms gives a mysterious feeling to a surrounding. This is a pair of early pressed and cut glass figural candlesticks. There is a woman carrying a bucket and a man carrying a basket. The woman candlestick is 9 ½ inches high and the bottom is 4 3/8 inches in diameter. The man candlestick is 9 ¾ inches high and the bottom is 4 9/16 inches in diameter. The edges of the bottom of the candlesticks are cut. The figures are dressed in colonial dress. The cups are threaded so that something else may be attached. The candlesticks are unmarked. We believe they are American and date to the mid 19 th century. They are quite heavy weighing 7 lbs. The lady candlestick is heavier than the man. The woman candlestick has a frit on the cup at the top and on her left elbow. There is no other damage.

You are bidding on 3 pairs. Of antique, crystal, glass, candlesticks. They measure 3 1/2 inches tall, with a 2 inch base, which is crude, almost leaving a pontil. They are blown into a 2 piece mold. The stem is 6 sided and gives them a very rich look. I have not cleaned them, as they just came from a recent estate find. All 6 are in perfect condition. Bid with confidence.
