The beautiful amethyst or purple color of this glass is a result of the presence of manganese in the glass. Which was a decolorizer to turn the glass clear. Glass that contains manganese, when exposed to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, causes the glass to turn amethyst. Some of my amethyst bottles and glass are purpled from years of exposure to natural sunlight. Others have been purpled with the use of strong UV lights in a box…and some have been purpled by a process called“irradiation” which is a safe and permanent process which does the same thing as many years of exposure to natural sunlight, except much faster. To those"purists" who falsely believe that glass cannot turn this deep amethyst color naturally, I could take you to places where bottles and glass have turned this same shade of purple from being in the sunlight for many years

Authentic antique pressed glass candlestick holder. Amazing Like-new condition. No flaws. Pristine clear glass. Substantial, strong feel to this piece. It is not fragile type glass. Deco gave way in the early 1930s. This piece was probably made at around the late 20s or early to mid 30s. The Candlestick is part of a large and extensive set up for auction. If you wanted to have a look at my other items. The Candlestick is very finely made throughout and of a great Art Deco design. I was told the Candlestick was made by Moser in the earlier 1900s period and is a very rare find. The Candlestick is unmarked as I believe the earlier examples never were. As you can see the Candlestick has a finely etch decorated band with a nice scrolling design which is identical to that of the Moser Splendid glasses more commonly found in a clear color with gilding. I was unable to find anything like this set mostly being colored. Also leading me to believe it is also rarely seen. Another nice feature of the Candlestick is within the etched splendid design there is also nice multi colored enamel work. The top rim is also gold gilt, and the Candlestick is of top quality throughout. The Candlestick is in excellent all original condition with some wear to the Gold Band but no chips, cracks or repairs. The Candlestick is a nice impressive example to be displayed measuring 6-3/4 inches long and standing 4-3/4 inches tall. I believe it could be some time before you see an

Awesome set of original mercury glass candle holders. Which i would estimate from the 1920's. Originated from Charles Mayer& Company Indianapolis. Box is not musty smelling, so that tells me these holders have been taken care of over the years. There are no chips, cracks or fractures! The only blemish is where the silver has worn away from the mirrored backing, which you can see in my photos. I think that only lends to the charm of these. Measures 4" tall x 4.5" wide at base. There is some minor candle residue. Buyer to pay insurance.

From our personal candlestick collection we are offering this 1890's McKee Glass Co. Pyramid' milk glass candlestick holder. This stick is pictured in a reprinted ad on page 130 of the Archer's 1983 edition of"The Encyclopedia of Glass Candlesticks" where it is called"Manhattan" It has also been pictured in Belknap's'Milk Glass' and Millard's'Opaque Glass' The milk glass has a slight translucent quality and is less opaque than what we see in milk glass produced today. Height is 6.5" tall; base width is 3" Condition is excellent with some mold roughness on all edges which is often found in early glassware that was not fire polished. There are no cracks. Thick green glass top is and inverse fluted bell shape, with a raised painted design in cream, very light pink, and gold paint. The charming scene is a wreath of leaves with squirrels and winged angels or cherubs. Each squirrel is different as is each cherub, this was clearly entirely hand painted, free hand artistry. The large glass shade is open at the top, and I place a battery operated candle in it with a timer, so it turns off and on automatically. It could certainly be wired for use as a lamp. The light coming through the green glass is truly beautiful. It is a tall and heavy piece at almost 2 feet. The top is attached to the brass base which resembles an architectural column with ancient capital on top. There is a little bit of play here at the union of top and bottom, but is secure. I also use tacky wax to hold the glass shade portion to the metal piece it sits on to keep it from moving(especially here in CA) This is lovely on a mantel, entry way or hallway to give a soft and colorful light at night instead of a lamp or nightlight. Antique Cobalt Glass Birds thin Silver Deposit/Resist Candlestick Candle Holder
Beautiful antique cobalt glass candle holder or candlestick. Please read measurements as the camera tends to distort the length as well as base width. Heavy solid glass. The candlestick is over 2 pounds. Measuring 10-1/8" high, with a base of just over 5" across. It is 4-3/4" across the handles, and 3" across the top. The silver is thin. Not overlay or on-lay, it might be called silver deposit or silver resist but I am not sure. It was done with a process that leaves a thin shade of silver as though it was transferred onto the glass. I ship daily and within 24 hours of payment. Which is due within 3 days. Any items won before that 3 day period ends can be included for combined shipping at no extra cost.
