When in use as a compote/ candy dish be sure to support from the base as the glass bowls have a very loose fit. Laben had produced a line of different serving pieces featuring a sterling base and the same pattern cut glass. But the pattern was discontinued in the 1960's. The sterling candle holder do show some age appropriate surface scratches along with tarnish and several nicks along the bottom edge(see picture 4. 5, 6& 7) Also note; the top part of the candle holder sits loosely on the base. Measurements are approx. 2 5/8" in diameter at the base. 2 1/4" in height not including the glass bowl. The glass bowls measure approx. 6" in diameter and when sitting on top the candle holder measure approx. 4" in height. Be sure to look closely at all the pictures since they are a very important part of the overall description and allow you to evaluate the condition of the item. The Candlestick is part of a large and extensive set up for auction. If you wanted to have a look at my other items. The Candlestick is very finely made throughout and of a great Art Deco design. I was told the Candlestick was made by Moser in the earlier 1900s period and is a very rare find. The Candlestick is unmarked as I believe the earlier examples never were. As you can see the Candlestick has a finely etch decorated band with a nice scrolling design which is identical to that of the Moser Splendid glasses more commonly found in a clear color with gilding. I was unable to find anything like this set mostly being colored. Also leading me to believe it is also rarely seen. Another nice feature of the Candlestick is within the etched splendid design there is also nice multi colored enamel work. The top rim is also gold gilt, and the Candlestick is of top quality throughout. The Candlestick is in excellent all original condition with some wear to the Gold Band but no chips, cracks or repairs. Each fish sits on a round ribbed platform with a square base and curved corners. Each candlestick has a removable bobeche with faceted prisms. I believe this set had removable candelabra arm extensions that held epergne vases. I have pictured them with antique candles to show the beauty of them without the arms. There are wear marks along the outside ridges of the cups from the arms being placed and removed over the years. Recently a single(1) candleholder like these with the arms and in an opaque color sold for $350.00 on ebay. There are four mold seams on each candle holder. Awesome set of original mercury glass candle holders. Which i would estimate from the 1920's. Originated from Charles Mayer& Company Indianapolis. Box is not musty smelling, so that tells me these holders have been taken care of over the years. There are no chips, cracks or fractures! The only blemish is where the silver has worn away from the mirrored backing, which you can see in my photos. I think that only lends to the charm of these. Measures 4" tall x 4.5" wide at base.
