These Free blown Whimsy Candlesticks measure about 8.75" tall& 8-1/8" tall. They both have little cracks in the glass as pictured. Everything about these candlesticks leads me to believe they are quite old.except the lack of wear to the base. I guess they could've sat on a mantle and not been used for a very long time. However im going to have to put the caveat in that im unsure of age. The glass has a light green bottle glass coloration to it as can be seen in the pics of the rims. Circa 1830, or so. Lamp is 5 5/8" high with a 3 1/2" diameter base, and the burner is made of pewter with tin tubes. Condition is original and excellent with no damage and no repair, and it was found in New England. This is a good quality New England glass lamp that weighs over 1 pound and has a beautiful free blown form. The painted design is on a matte finish while the rest of the piece is a reflective silver. It has been in our family since the 1970s-80s. The painted design around the holder portion has faded with age and handling and some of the paint has worn off. However the silvering on the base has age-related spotting and hazing including a 1/3+ portion of the base where the silver has flaked off to the extent that you can see through the glass. Antique Hand Blown Glass Candle Stick Holder This is an unusual candlestick. It's been in the family many generations- really not sure how far back it goes- at least to the early'20s and maybe way further. It has a rough feel to the top of the base and each spiral but is smooth underneath. I thought because of this rough feeling and yellow color it was vaseline glass. But after reading about vaseline glass I really can't say. Anyone out there know anything about this? The base measures 5-inches across and it is 3-inches in height. There are a number of air bubbles in the base. Right under the top lip on one side there is a 5/8-inch chip. Which you can see in one of the photos. Extremely Rare 18thC Georgian Teal Blue Glass Hand Blown Candlestick
Please Note: The American Jersey Folk Art scent bottle with Swan finial and the Blue Flared Lip Pitkin Flask are not for sale. They are there to show the contrast of color. This Georgian candlestick measures 27.5cms high by 18.2cms wide at the foot. The candlestick has been made in several parts ei:7 sections. It has a folded foot with a round outward folded lip. There are many inclusions in the glass including several randomly spread air bubbles within the glass. I have seen candlestick examples of this type in clear glass only and this is the first Teal blue I've come across. I have started the bidding at a very reasonable price. Condition: Inside lip fault line as shown in my pictures. This fault cannot be felt from outside or inner lip. There is one rounded end of a crimp missing which does not detract from its appeal. There is chipping to five of eight bottom corner edges. I have tried to show the most significant in photos. The other three bottom corners have some minor flakes. Both sticks have some chipping on the interior sharp edges inside the bases. There are no other chips or cracks. Candlesticks were purchased at a reputable antique dealer and there is no reserve on this item. End of day glass was any item made by the glassworkers in their own time at the end of the day using the remaining molten glass in the pots. It is therefore tended to be a mixture of all sorts of colors. Candlesticks measure approximately 7 ½” high. At first I thought it might be a"make do" However, I am almost certain that this is an original piece that was designed this way. It has a blown hollow base which is cut with notches and a faceted stem. It has a brass connector which joins it to a nice cut socket. It has three ribbed scrolled attached feet. I am questioning if this might be a Boston and Sandwich Glass piece from the 1880s. If anyone who recognizes this and knows the maker would care to share the information I would enjoy hearing from you. The quality of the glass and cut decoration is top end. It measures roughly 8" tall x 4 1/4" wide. The condition is excellent. Other than a couple minor flea bites on the edge of one of the ribbed feet there are no chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines or evidence of grinding. Please feel free to email with any questions.
