The bases of the candlesticks are weighted for stability. These are impressive, heavy weight pieces, guaranteed to make an impression on your dinner table, mantle, or wherever you choose to display them. The candlesticks are in great overall condition. Two of the candlesticks have some minor crinkling around the narrowest part of the column. Where the shaft meets the base, but the candlesticks still stand straight. There are no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs. Each candlestick is stamped on the underside with the maker's mark for Webster Company as well as sterling and weighted. Each candlestick is about 10 1/4 inches tall. The total weight for all four candlesticks is 2592 grams or 91.5 regular ounces. Considering the weighting in the bottom. Not all of this weight is sterling silver. These antique Edwardian sterling silver piano candlesticks have plain cuboid columns onto a square swept base. The broad columns of these impressive candlesticks are plain and unembellished. The plain square stepped capitals retain the original hallmarked detachable sconces. Both candlesticks have weighted bases. As to be expected, and are fitted with green baize to the underside. Condition These antique candlesticks are a very good gauge of silver. Fine quality and in excellent condition. The candlesticks have a few very minor dings and blemishes to the bases as expected and in keeping with age; the candlesticks have been priced accordingly. Each candlestick has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. IMPRESSIVE 1911 SET OF 4 WEIGHTED STERLING SILVER COLUMN FORM CANDLESTICKS Presented is a very nice set of four weighted sterling silver candlesticks by Gorham. These pieces date to 1910/1911. The candlesticks are done in a classical fluted column form. The columns are raised on stepped pedestal bases. And have ornate Corinthian style capitals. The bobeches or wax drips are removable. The candlesticks are heavily weighted for stability. These are very well made pieces, and would make an impressive addition to any table or home's decor. The underside of each of the four candlesticks is stamped with the Gorham hallmark and the word'sterling' Three of the candlesticks have the pipe date cipher for 1911. The remaining candlestick has the date cipher for 1910. ... moreThese candlesticks are in great overall condition. Unfortunately one of the candlesticks is missing its removable bobeche/wax drip. But this actually makes very little difference to the height and appearance of the piece overall. All of the candlesticks have some minor dings, commensurate with age and use. There are no splits, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The candlesticks stand 8 1/4 inches tall. The square bases measure 4 1/8 inches x 4 1/8 inches. The total weight for all four candlesticks is 2820.5 grams or 6.1 pounds. Not all of this weight is silver. As the candlesticks are weighted internally for stability. Once in a previous lifetime I worked at Lord& Taylor as the manager of the Fine Jewelry Department. Since I got such great discounts as an employee I ended up buying far more that I could ever wear. I am continually amazed and then frightened by the amount of clothing that I brought home. Ripped the tags off saying MINE and then slid it into the closet waiting til I could fit into it. There also was an Ann Taylor, Chico's and Macy's in the mall where I spent my lunch hour. This is a beautiful set of four antique Roman column silverplate candlesticks. The candlesticks have a beautiful design to them with an ornate top and a ribbed body. Each of the four candle sticks is marked on the bottom"Made in England" The candle sticks measure 8" tall and have bases that are about 3&5/8" wide. The four candlesticks all have wear to their finish- some more than others. There is also some wax residue in addition to the wear- these are not new items and it shows. antique column candlesticks hallmarked garlands trim 9 inch base 4 square
unfortunately each one missing a garland as you can see in photo. they are 9 inch high. the cups come out one of them has a little ding on the side perhaps it was dropped but overall the condition is very nice they are old and were used. each one has the same hallmarks I cannot make out the first circle mark at all the middle one looks like an IB over a C in a 3 circle mark the last one looks like an L in a circle as well. not sure if they are weighted if so it is in the center columns top down to throat is open. not all scratched but they were for sure polished many times. the weight is about 25 oz for the 2 but cannot account for any weight there may be in column. they come from a very nice estate we are working with elegant lamps and cut glass to come email any questions. if someone knows additional about these I would love to hear.
