This is a beautiful pair of antique etched cranberry glass hurricane shades on clear dolphin bases with 8 dangling prisms each. They measure 17" to top of cranberry hurricane. The base is a wonderful clear glass dolphin. There is a problem with one of the cranberry hurricanes: it has a l 1/2" zig zag crack coming from a small chip on base. See Photo. When the chimney is resting in the base the chip and a lot of the crack is covered. Unfortunate. But to be honest I didn't notice this flaw when purchasing at an Estate Sale. 15.00 Here is a wonderful pair of antique or vintage dolphin candlesticks. The pair are nicely detailed with molded scales and fins and detailed faces. The dolphins sit atop a double square pedestal base. With a lovely scalloped taper holder perched on the curve of the tail. The pair appear near perfect, save for a very small area of roughness to the top of the back fin on of one dolphin, which is likely a tiny chip. This auction is for a single pressed glass Dolphin Candlestick made by the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company. It dates to the middle of the nineteenth century. The stick is 10 inches tall and it rests on a single base that measures 4 inches by 4 inches. It is constructed in two parts and joined with a glass wafer* This candlestick is in excellent condition with no damage and just the right amount of normal wear. The final picture shows a comparison of the candlestick attributed to Sandwich with a double base stick known to have been made by other glass houses at the time. Remember. The only thing i can see is the bases are slightly different, look at the trim, of course everything is slightly different on the fish, totally hand done. Thanks for looking, i see no chips or cracks.
