According to Kovels. This mark represents Zeh, Scherzer& Co. in Rehau. Bavaria. Germany( W. Germany) from 1880 to the present. We could not identify this design with a specific company pattern name– actually it looks like it was made to go with several of their patterns/designs. This is an exquisitely decorated and delicate. Very old Butter/Cheese keeper cover, it is round and domed. This may be Royal Derby or Durham. Very similar pattern and Imari style, not stating facts here as I can't identify! Dark Blue has almost a flow blue look and coloring with gold trim and red poppy like flowers with accents of green and yellow. Very fine work. Impossible pattern to find. These are the closest identifications I could find, no distinct markings. I do have it pictured with a saucer NOT THE BASE DISH! It isn't a perfect match and saucer has a crack in it. I sold the other plates that I had over a year ago that matched this cover. Unfortunately. Cover just surfaced! This has been in the family forever. Cover has no stains. These plates are very rare and unusual and are hard~to~find.I purchased these from an ESTATE sale of an elderly man who traveled and collected rare. Antique and vintage items. I do NOT know a whole lot about these except they are very RARE and have"witty" sayings on them. Which I did not take time to translate. None appears to have cracks nor chips. However, they do have pottery indentations in some area from when they were made, which is common. 2 of the plates have a soft scallop like rim with same sayings. 3 of the plates have a thick dark blue rim with same sayings and the last 1 has a thinner blue edge and a different saying. This is for the nice lovely Victorian butter dish shown. There is no makers mark. I believe this is an earthenware porcelain. Excellent condition for the age with no cracks. And only one tiny flea bite chip on the center circle of the insert dish. There is some crazing and age marks- consistent with over 100 years as this is probable late 1800s and English. These dishes were used with ice under the inner plates to keep the butter cold. Normal firing and manufacturing marks. It measures 5.25" diameter by 5" high. Please judge the condition by the photos. This auction is for a Lovely and Hard to Find Grouping of 7 Antique White Ironstone Butter Pats made by Johnson Brothers of England. They are neatly designed in a square shape with a ribbed pattern. The set is in very good shape. Especially for its age, which dates to the late 1800s. There are no chips or cracks in any of the pieces. They have under glaze crazing, which is expected in ironstone of this era, and two have minor discoloration marks. One has what appears to be a sand particle trapped under the glaze. They each measure about 2 3/4 inches across. They all have the Johnson Brothers England Royal Coat of Arms black backstamp. Which was used by the company from 1883 to 1913. This auction is for an antique yellow cane ware covered butter dish. Probably ... morefrom the late 19th or early 20th century, marked WS&S 5077 on the bottom of the plate. It is decorated with a stippled background, and thistles around the rim and the finial is a thistle blossom. Hmm, was this made for a Scottish market? Caneware is a tan-colored. Unglazed stoneware that was first developed by Josiah Wedgwood about 1770. In 1795, caneware game pie dishes were made to look like the pastry crust of a game pie. Caneware has been made by many companies since that time and is often used for cooking or serving utensils. This has the WS&S stamp on the bottom of the plate, which stands for Wilhelm Schiller& Sons, which operated from 1829- the early 20th century out of Bavaria. The dish stands approx. 4.5" high and 8.75" in diameter. This is in clean condition. Except for a few minor marks, such as a tape mark on the inside of the lid and the bottom of the plate, and something red inside the butter bowl part. No chips or cracks or breaks but there is a flaw in the finial that looks sort of like a chip. Cane ware can be fragile, so finding a piece in this condition is a score! Good Luck! Up for auction is a May-Stern's 23rd Anniversary Butter Pat. It is 3 1/2" in diameter. It has a rough spot on the outside rim of the butteer pat. It doesn't look like a chip. BLUE& CREAM VICTORIAN COUNTRYSIDE RECTANGULAR BUTTER DISH PORCELAIN BLUE& CREAM TOILE TRANSFERWARE RECTANGULAR BUTTER DISH. Lovely detail. Featuring an idyllic Victorian countryside with 3 children tending to numerous farm animals and a farmhouse encircling the body of the cover of the dish. The plate shows a river scene with 2 cows and people as well as a palace in the background. The plate and the top of the butter dish show a beautifully detailed floral border and the uniquely shaped handle has a pretty hand painted detail. Pictured are the lid and the plate turned in different directions to show the entire scene and unique shape. The plate measures 7 3/8" x 5” and is ¾“ deep. The lid measures 6” x 3 5/8” and stands 4” from the bottom of the plate to the top of the handle. The color combines shades of blue on a cream ... morebackground. This absolutely gorgeous butter dish will enhance any table setting or home décor. It is in excellent condition. New. No chips or cracks. View pictures closely, I try to accurately photograph the item from several views to give you a good visual of the condition and detailed pictures. This is a reproduction of late 18th century English China. Blue on white background depicting mid 700's floral and typical English scenery. It has a coat of arms on the bottom depicting a crest of double lions.
