These two little butter pats have elegant ladies handpainted on them. Each is 2& 5/8" across. The one with the mobcap has a gold rim around the edge. Neither have any marks as to the maker or place where they were made. They look French to me. They are both in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or damage. The"rainbows" in the photo are an artifact of the scanner.

6 Beautiful Antique Portrait Butter Pats These are six beautiful antique portrait butter pats from around the turn of the century. Butter pats come from a time when butter was on every table. Made at home and often molded into fancy shapes. Every food had a designated service piece, including butter. They are still seen on first-class international meal service flights and in some premium china services These Victorian-era pats each measure 3” x 2 ½” The pat on upper left in the photo has a tiny nick to the left of the indent. Two others have tiny firing flaws on the back that were factory overglazed. The gilt edging is worn off in some places. JUST REDUCED! Pair of hand painted porcelain easel-shaped butter pats c. 1880-1900 depicting a fashionable young lad and lady. Condition on the girl dish is mint to near-mint. There are no cracks. Chips, flakes or hairlines and the gold outlining the rim is fully intact and shiny. There is virtually no paint loss or the surface scratches that are normally associated with the use of butter knives. Probably a cabinet piece that was never used Condition on the boy dish is very good with the following points to mention. There are no cracks or hairlines. But there is a tiny flat flake at approximately 7:00 o'clock. The flake is so shallow and smooth that it actually looks more like the loss of a tiny spot of paint and doesn't feel rough to the touch. At one time. There was gold outlining the rim and on the background surrounding the portrait, ... morebut this is mostly gone. The remaining gold almost has a sponged-on effect that is not at all unpleasant to my eye. There is virtually no paint loss to the portrait itself, and only minimal surface scratches, really tiny and very few. There is also a little roughness on the foot rim which is a factory condition from when the porcelain was placed in the kiln and is not a damage. If you collect hand painted butter pats. These would be nice additions to your collection. Approximately 2-3/4” at longest length. Attributed to the Heubach firm which was founded in Lichten.
