All are in very good to excellent condition. I do not see any cracks. Some of the butter pats have small chips on the bottoms. 1 has a tiny chip along the edge and 1 has a surface ship along the edge/back side. These are all very old. Some over 100 years old. They are not perfect. There are some signs of aging such as discoloration, crazing, and slight paint wear/loss. They are white with a dark blue edge which has tiny pink roses and white daisies. These pats measure just over 3 inches across and raise to about 3/8 of an inch at the sides. Both pats are marked Maddock England and several other marks which are imprinted in the porcelain(see pictures 4 and 7) These pats are older and were probably used. They show gold wear on the outer edge. One shows some aging in color on the back. But there are no chips, cracks, crazing or flea bites. Each pat has a tiny pin prick size brown dot on the surface and some light use marks(mostly seen when held at an angle) ... moreI did not use any cleaners on these pats, I prefer to leave that to someone with more expertise. Lot of 5 Antique Victorian and Edwardian butter pats- Lot 2 I am selling off some of antique butter pats that were purchased at antique shows and stores in Massachusetts 50 years ago. I would date three of these from 1870s– 1920s. The blue Longfellow Inn and green pats are not as old but for sure are 40+ years old. All are a little under or over 3” round. Descriptions(s1-2 = top row. L to R) 3 = center) s 4-5 = bottom row, L to R) 1. green transferware pat with rose pattern. The bottom is marked: Arabia Made in Finland 2 with a tiny crown. There are two rough scuff marks on the scalloped edges and there is a rough area in the glaze which was there when created. 2. unmarked thicker white pat with a black transfer design. Seems like the kind of piece used in hotels. No chips– very nice. 3. Mr. pat– white with blue trim and a gold MR. on the ... moretop. Some light crazing– there are some blue lines on the bottom but no other mark. No chips or cracks. 4. blue and gold scalloped floral pat– when I was little this was my favorite but it does have a tiny chip on the top edge and one underneath that looks like it was repaired. There is a gilded edge. It is marked 36 in blue. There is a gold mark of some kind and an embossed P in the center. No crazing. 5. blue transfer ware pat depicting the Longellow& Wayside Inn. S. Sudbury Mass. It is marked: Old English Staffordshire Ware Made in Staffordshire England by Alfred Meakin imported for Rawding Distributing of Winchester. Mass. In the circle it says: John Roth England. No chips, cracks or crazing. Please make sure to check the photos for condition as described above. 2 Antique Furnivals Quail English Ironstone China Transferware Butter Pats
Up for auction are two antique vintage Furnivals ironstone transfer designed butter pats recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. Both English made butter pats are in the"Quail" pattern. One is orange on white and the other is blue on white. Both are the same size and measure approximately 3" in diameter. The only condition issue to discuss are two small glaze drips on the rim of the orange pat. Please see photos#5-6 for details. They both appear to have the number 1913 on the reverse side. I don't know if this refers to the year made, the year they started the pattern or if it has no significance at all. Both are quite dirty and could benefit from a good cleaning. T. R. Boote, Lahore- Brown antique butter pats (2), circa 1880
Up for bid are these two rare antique butter pats manufactured by T.R. Boote in the Brown Lahore pattern. Circa 1880. These butter pats came from a three generation estate auction in northeast Indiana. The butter pats have nice detail in the brown floral transfer, well defined maker's marks, and some light staining from age. There is a minor chip on one of them at the base but there are now cracks or chips on the glazed surfaces. Please review the attached pictures. Antique John Maddock & Sons England Royal Vitreous Butter Pat Dishes Lot of 2
UP FOR CONSIDERATION: Here is a dainty antique/vintage lot of two(2) John Maddock& Sons. Ltd Royal Vitreous Butter Pat Dishes, made in England. The first dish is in the"Victor Pattern" 379316 and has the green crown and circle mark on the bottom. This pattern is an ornate green laurel wreaths of flowers on a white vitreous porcelain ceramiic. This transfer ware plate is in excellent condition with only a few light utensil marks and& some fading to the overall sharpness of color. But the design is intact and the piece is still lovely. There is a bit of light crazing on the bottom to be expected due to age and service. This plate measures 3 1/8" wide. The second dish has a gold crown mark on the bottom and the circle with"John Maddock& Sons. Ltd, Royal Vitreous" written inside. We aren't sure of the ... morename of this pattern, but it features what looks like opposing grapevines. The rim is scalloped with a gold trim. There is some fading to the gold trim, but most is still visible. The pink/purple and green colors are nice with minimal fade. The dish is in overall excellent condition free of crazing, cracks, and chips. There may be light utensil marks due to age and service. This plate measures 3 1/8" wide.
