There re 4 small round pieces that I believe are butter pats and 2 oval dishes that likely were designed as butter pats or salt cellars. And 1-1/8 tall with scalloped edges. Although I do not know their exact age it is obvious that they are Antique porcelain. Beautiful floral artwork with pink and wine accents to the flowers with green leaves, trim and branches. Tiny dots of white paint finish there lovely design off. Each is scalloped and they have bright color, each hand painted. One has a tiny flea mark that has been touch up and can hardly be seen. JUST REDUCED! Pair of hand painted porcelain easel-shaped butter pats c. 1880-1900 depicting a fashionable young lad and lady. Condition on the girl dish is mint to near-mint. There are no cracks. Chips, flakes or hairlines and the gold outlining the rim is fully intact and shiny. There is virtually no paint loss or the surface scratches that are normally associated with the use of butter knives. Probably a cabinet piece that was never used Condition on the boy dish is very good with the following points to mention. There are no cracks or hairlines. But there is a tiny flat flake at approximately 7:00 o'clock. The flake is so shallow and smooth that it actually looks more like the loss of a tiny spot of paint and doesn't feel rough to the touch. At one time. There was gold outlining the rim and on the background surrounding the portrait, ... morebut this is mostly gone. The remaining gold almost has a sponged-on effect that is not at all unpleasant to my eye. There is virtually no paint loss to the portrait itself, and only minimal surface scratches, really tiny and very few. I found these 15 years ago at an estate sale in a huge old mansion in Upstate NY(I wish I could remember the last name of that family) These butter pats are hand-painted miniature portraits on porcelain that most likely are of the ladies in the household and of the pet dog. These are probably very valuable because the quality of the painting is superb with a lot of detail and coloring and the faces on the ladies are beautiful. These are not signed.
