Lovely Antique Set 8+1 Ironstone BUTTER PATS, Christmas Green Transferware
Description 8+1 BUTTER PATS Lovely set of eight matching ironstone porcelain butter pats. Each measuring 3-1/4" wide. Featuring a softly scalloped border with embossed pattern, design is a dainty trailing floral and leaf in green with a fine gold border. Unmarked, several are incised"H" uncertain of the pattern name, but guessing by Johnson Brothers or similar. I'm including an additional pat that is the same color, but does not quite match. Condition on all is great- no chips. This is a beautiful set of 6 hand painted porcelain open salts/salt cellars. They have scalloped edges and unusual raised dots around the inside edge. They are hand painted with a violets and gold motif. They measure 2 3/4" x 1 3/4" They are unmarked so I am unsure of their origin. They could be from Japan or possibly France. The owner's mother had purchased them at an Antique Show back in 1970 so I would guess that they predate 1940. They are in very good condition. No chips or cracks. There is some slight rubbing of the gold on some edges and some brown marks on the unglazed bottoms. Antique Old Blue Flow Grindley Butter Pats set/8 The Duchess
Up for bid is a lovely set/8 Blue Flow butter pats from Grindley in The Duchess pattern. Please read entire description before bidding. They measure 3 1/4" The tops of the pats are fine. Except for some minor gold wear on a couple of them. The underside of 3 of them have some crazing. I have taken pictures of the 3 that have the crazing. Also, a few of them have a couple of small manufacturing bumps, that were not smoothed before painting. I think I have described the issues as well as photos. Thank you for taking a look at these lovely little butter pats by Mellor and Taylor. Marked on the bottom as Teutonic Semi-porcelain. Mellor and Taylor Company, England. These are very pretty with a white background accented by brown leaves along with pink, blue, and yellow flowers. The gilt along the edges has some loss but in no way detracts from these at all. They measure approximately 2.75" with no cracks, chips or repairs. They do show signs if vintage wear but this is to be expected with the age and in no way detracts from them at all. For your consideration is a set of 6 Grindley semi-porcelain butter pats from the turn of the 19th/20th century. These appear little used if at all. No chips or cracks in the 6 that I am selling. I am unsure of the seventh one. the one that is by itself in the photos, which may have a small sliver off the back edge) so it is going along with the others for free. Many discolorations, roughness, marks, stains, and all sorts of imperfections under the glaze- too many to mention individually- as can be seen in the photos, so they are being sold as-is. Up for auction is a set of small plate or saucer plates. Or butter pats made by Haviland and Co. They are 5 3/8 inches in diameter. The pieces feature a wispy pink rose and yellow flowers pattern on Blank 1, also known as Ranson. I'm fairly certain it's Schleiger 49, though it would easily compliment many of Haviland's similar patterns. They are underglaze marked"H& Co L France" in green, mark style H which was used from 1888 to 1896. The decorator's mark is"Haviland& Co, Limoges" in red, mark style c in use from 1889 to 1931.
