The piece features a transferware Blue Flow flower and leaves pattern. The blank has a ... morescalloped rim. The piece is back-stamped"Rustic Trademark WH Grindley& Co England" with a globe and steamboat. The stamp was used from 1891 until 1914 when it in changed to incorporate the Royal Coat of Arms. The pat measures 3 1/8" in diameter and weighs 1.5 oz. The piece has a very small chip on the rim and very fine crazing notable under inspection. There are no marks from use. Despite the small chip. It is in good condition and will make a fantastic addition Blue Flow or Butter Pat collection or for use at the table or for tea. Butter Pats were an essential piece of high society tableware during the mid-late Victorian Era. The pat usually held a tablespoon of whipped butter in a rosette shape or stamped with the house seal. Pats began to decline in popularity after the turn of the century. Today they are still used at some hotels and restaurants. They are also commonly used as tea bag rests. W.H. Grindley was founded in 1880 in Stokes-on-Trent. England. The company manufactured earthenware and ironstone tableware for 111 years closing in 1991. Shipping. TWO Antique Butter Pat* Wedgwood Embossed Tree + Red Green Transferware WOW!!!
Description This pair of early butter pats or small plates measures 4.25" in diameter.The white one has embossed light blue trees on it. I believe it is Wedgwood but cannot make out the incised mark on back. I see Royal Patent and there is a horse head as part of the mark. I can make out.ENAST.as part of the name around the edge. Anyone know who this is? Some discoloration as shown but no chips or cracks! The other one looks like Staffordshire to me and features a green transfer center with red scenes around the edge! Very unusual and pretty. There are flowers and ships as shown with great detail in the geometric designs. No mark on back and discoloration as shown. No chips or cracks! Great estate find! Lovely Antique Set 8+1 Ironstone BUTTER PATS, Christmas Green Transferware
Description 8+1 BUTTER PATS Lovely set of eight matching ironstone porcelain butter pats. Each measuring 3-1/4" wide. Featuring a softly scalloped border with embossed pattern, design is a dainty trailing floral and leaf in green with a fine gold border. Unmarked, several are incised"H" uncertain of the pattern name, but guessing by Johnson Brothers or similar. I'm including an additional pat that is the same color, but does not quite match. Condition on all is great- no chips. Cracks, hairlines or damage to the eight other than usage marks, a bit of difference in the green shade(some are a tad lighter) and clear crazing to the glaze- the additional pat has just a faint amount of tanning in the bowl- does not detract. This large gravy boat and oval olive plate are in the Hamilton pattern by John Maddock& Sons. England. The olive dish also doubles as a gravy underplate. They have normal antique wear. I found no chips, cracks or repairs. There is slight staining. Dimensions of plate are about 8 5/8" by 4 3/4" The gravy boat is 8 1/2" long by 4" wide. Welcome to my auction! Up for bid is a lovely antique vintage round white butter pat with small scalloped rim. Butter pat design is a green floral transferware with double gold edges. It measures about 3" in diameter. Please look at all pictures CAREFULLY as they are part of my description. I am selling this item as found. Quarter is NOT included. PLEASE READ MY DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY. As I try to list every flaw I see. There are no chips on the dish. There is crazing throughout the front and back and a tiny stain near the center of the dish due to age. There is a rough spot on the center of the dish which I caught in the last photo. There is a line that looks like it was where the transferware design was connected. The item is in good vintage condition. This would be a great addition to someone's antique butter pat collection.
