It looks like it used to have a gold rim but there is only 1 tiny mark left. The back has a blue mark and a very tiny gold mark but nothing I can read to identify the maker. Two Antique Flow Blue Butter Pats "Loraine" by John Alcock
These two butter pats measure just 3 inches in diameter. The marks on the back indicate that the pattern name is Loraine and the maker. John Alcock& Sons of England. They were likely made in the late 1800's. The butter pats are in good condition with no chips or cracks. There are a few tiny imperfections that have been there since they were manufactured. The gold rim line is nearly intact on one of the tiny plates; there is more loss to the gilt on the other. I am happy to answer any questions. Antique Old Blue Flow Grindley Butter Pats set/8 The Duchess
Up for bid is a lovely set/8 Blue Flow butter pats from Grindley in The Duchess pattern. Please read entire description before bidding. They measure 3 1/4" The tops of the pats are fine. Except for some minor gold wear on a couple of them. The underside of 3 of them have some crazing. I have taken pictures of the 3 that have the crazing. Also, a few of them have a couple of small manufacturing bumps, that were not smoothed before painting. I think I have described the issues as well as photos. THE OUTSIDE HAS THREE DARK BLUE TREES SPACED APART EVENLY. THE INSIDE IS DECORATED WITH WHAT LOOK LIKE LILY PADS AND THEN LITTLE SQUIGGLES SURROUNDING THE LILY PADS. IN THE CENTER IS A BEAUTIFUL HAND PAINTED MAJESTIC LOOKING BUTTERFLY. THE INSIDE IS MADE LIKE THUMBPRINTS ALL AROUND WHICH GIVES IT A SLIGHT SCALLOPED LOOK. There is no reserve tonight. i am going to list more butter pats from the same estate tonight, as well.
