Set of three rare. Antique butter pats, 3" each, made by Furnivals of England. They have the registration number"RdNo 684771" which indicates this famous brown Quail pattern was registered in 1921. There are a few spots on the back where the glaze missed(see photos) and some factory pitting on the top. Both are common in early manufacturing. They look never used. Up for auction very rare set of 4 antique ironstone butter pats from Johnson Bros. England. Really beautiful little butter pats. White w scalloped edge and in very good condition. One small flake on top of one dish and another small flake on bottom of other pat, look closely at pics. All 4 are in good condition for age, very old from late 1800's. They do have some brown staining that comes out most times when soaked in bleach or peroxide, I did not try. All have antique Johnson Bros mark on back. Really Rare Antique Butter Pat Dish. I am assuming that this little dish is very rare because I haven't been able to find another one like it on the internet. It also seems that Meakin didn't make very many plain white dishes. I did find one like it from some Hotel but the stamp on the back was different. I really don't know. But I am thinking this might be one of the very first white butter pats. For as old as it is, it is in pretty good shape. Both of them have approximately 50% gold wear on the rim. Very light scratches on the center which are visible with the light reflection. Only on the back side they have manufacturing dots. I do NOT see any crazing, chips, discoloration or repair. I never seen that kind mark. Both of them have the same, but not identical mark. One is impressed and painted. I can feel under my finger this uneven surface. The other is more smooth. Both marks are underglaze.
